About Dan Loch

Hi all,

Do you want to learn how to play guitar? Want to unravel the mystery of songwriting? Or want to find out how to be a full time musician? Whether you’re a beginner or well on your way, I can help you reach the next step of your musical journey.

I’m Dan Loch, guitarist, songwriter, and worship director. I started my journey in the rolling mountains of Virginia where I learned to rock and play some folk fingerstyle guitar. Then I packed my bags and went to college at Cairn University where I studied classical guitar but played guitar and bass in the jazz ensemble. Now I lead worship at Calvary Baptist Church in Bristol, PA, write songs for my band Loch & Cain, and teach through my music studio.

When you take a lesson with me you’ll get a custom tailored experience, not just a stroll through a method book (although if the method book is the best path for you we’ll use it). Here are some things you can expect:

  1. Learn the songs you want to play
  2. Save years of pain and frustration by following proven techniques
  3. Understand music, not just your instrument
  4. Clear, effective communication and scheduling
  5. Clever sayings that will stick with you for life (“Practice makes permanent”, “Elephants And Donkeys Grow Big Ears”)

Guitar is my primary instrument and I’ve helped students learn all different genres and styles. We’ve done classical guitar, jazz guitar, rock and roll, folk, country, blues, pop, worship, and more. Some students who have been with me for years have gone through most of those genres at one point or another.

But maybe you want to learn a different instrument. I’ve taught piano, bass, and ukulele as well.

But wait! There’s more. I also teach songwriting. Learn how to write songs with soaring melodies and compelling lyrics. No previous songwriting experience required.

You have goals and I would be honored to help you reach them. Send me a message and lets talk.
