About Konstantinos Kyriakidis
Kostas is an award winning composer, drummer and educator with substantial achievement within the music industry. He studied Composition for Screen at the Royal College of Music, London and Composition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Kostas is also a fully qualified Music Teacher (QTS) with extensive experience teaching in UK Secondary schools. He has also taught at Primary, Further and Higher Education level including providing lectures at City University, London. He held the position of Head of Music and Artistic Director at the prestigious Doukas’ School, Athens for several years.
Kostas has a wealth of professional studio experience as a songwriter, drummer, programmer and producer as well as substantial live performance experience which includes supporting slots with major acts such as Saxon, Winger and Jeff Scott Soto among others. As a drummer and composer his work within the rock and pop genres includes two L.P. releases with EMI, as well as a number of independent releases.
As a film composer Kostas has scored the BAFTA award winning animation short ‘Dog’ as well as the Channel 4 animation short ‘The Hound and the Fury’. His orchestral piece ‘Morpheus’s Ecstasy’ received 1st prize in the ‘First National Greek Competition for Computer Assisted Compositions’.
