Musical Resumé
• Recently appeared on an episode of “Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway” performing with Little Mix on the banjo. Series broadcast live on ITV Saturday 27th February 2016.
• Guitarist in the band ‘The Gravy Train’ performing regularly in the Cambridge and London areas, playing jazz funk covers and original material. Our debut album was released on 5th December 2015 to critical acclaim and some tracks have been broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, BBC Solent radio and Jazz FM.
• Promoter for Ely Jazz since October 2013. I have had some of the country’s finest up and coming jazz acts to play at Ely Jazz, including Resolution 88 who recently sold out Ronnie Scott’s in London, the Nigel Price Trio (James Taylor Quartet), the Josh Kemp Organ Trio and Asaf Sirkis Quartet (Gilad Atsmon Orient House Ensemble).
• Performed with 05Ric and Gavin Harrison (King Crimson, Porcupine Tree) at the O2 Academy Islington on a 5 date tour of the UK June 2012. Also 2 European tours in February and November 2013.
• Perform as guitarist for Soul vocalist Reece Cannon (The Drifters) 2010 – 2013, played Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool, New Year’s Eve 2012 and East of England Showground Peterborough May 2013
• Perform every 3 months as The Justin Dwyer Quartet at the ‘Just Jazz’ evenings at ‘La Raza’ in Cambridge which has featured the Heidi Vogel Trio, Myles Sanko, Carl Hudson (Jocelyn Brown Band, Roger Odell Group, Professor Green), Kevin Flanagan (Robert Plant, B.B. King)
• Toured with blues band ‘Split Whiskers’ to Copenhagen to play Christiania music festival 2009, also appearing at Cambridge Rock Festival 2009 and 2010, The Great British Blues Festival at Skegness 2010, also regular appearances at ‘Ain’t Nothing But The Blues’ venue in Soho, London
• Assisted in running an improvisation workshop which was featured in a programme of events alongside a master class with Martin Taylor MBE which was held in Northampton in March 2006
• Performed as guitarist/bass guitarist/banjo in theatre productions at Key Theatre Peterborough, Mumford Theatre Cambridge, Maltings Theatre Ely, and Rhodes Centre Theatre Bishop’s Stortford.
• Performed regularly with my band ‘Loose Juice’ from 2004 to 2007 who have supported the James Taylor Quartet on a number of occasions and have played at Ronnie Scott’s, the 100 Club, the Jazz Café, Rock Garden, as well as The Junction in Cambridge and The Soul Cellar in Southampton
• Presented an evening of Jazz Fusion which included performances of music by George Benson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Frank Zappa, Billy Cobham and Mike Stern. This took place at The Mumford Theatre, Cambridge, in June 2003
