About

About

Jon Hamilton, an Erie, PA native, graduated from Allegheny College with his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2007. Upon graduation he worked in campus ministry and student activities at Waynesburg University. He then earned his M.Ed. at Edinboro University, studying Music Education.

“I was a late bloomer in my musical journey. I did not start until I was a senior in high school. I took piano class after hearing the Junior Philharmonic perform Greig’s In the Hall of the Mountain King. I was so moved that I had to learn how to play classical music. I loved that piano class and would leave study hall to attend an extra session. I went into college as a Pre-Med-Neuroscience major with a Music Minor. I did not think I had any chance of pulling off that much of a music degree. However, when you love something, you will figure out a way to make it work. I practiced hours and hours and came out with a BA in Music, eventually a M.Ed for Music Education, and thousands of opportunities across the globe that I didn’t think were possible before.”

Almost immediately after graduation he began his musical career with teaching K-12 while working in full time ministry as a Worship Director. In these roles Jon has educated and conducted choirs, instrumental groups, teams, and ensembles ranging from all ages, backgrounds, cultures and denominations.

Jon currently serves as a Music Teacher for a Title 1 School of Fairfax County Public Schools. He also works part time as an independent private vocal and piano instructor to adult students, collegiate students, and secondary school students. He loves his role as a teacher, team leader, and mentor. His dedication to himself and his purpose has given him stronger grounding in life. Such full hearted living provides many opportunities for enriching relationships as well as experiences. This element makes him a great asset to any setting he is in. Whether in the schools or the supermarket, Jon is bound to make positive imprints on those around him.

“I truly believe anyone can learn to sing and play at any age if they can find the right teacher! If I am that teacher, wonderful! If we are not a good match, then I encourage you to find new teachers and keep your passion for music! I love my students and I love what I do. I believe in fostering a healthy person first, then a musician.”
