About Jazmine Holness
I have played the violin from the age of 5 and have loved it ever since! The violin for me is an instrument that allows me to express a variety of emotions one main one being happiness. There is nothing more satisfying than picking my violin (Leonardo the 2nd is its name!) at the end of a long day and playing the stress away!
I start off beginners with fiddle time joggers or price music they want to work towards. If the student feels as if they want to work towards grades then after learning the basics through a number of beginner books we can choose who they would like to do their grades with (ABRSM etc.) and work towards their personalised violin lessons.
I am a firm believer in making sure that all my students of all ages have the violin lessons that they want. It is in this way that I ensure they engage with learning and enjoy playing their new instrument. I have found too often that teachers will push students into learning music that they do not like. This is a sure-fire way for a student to lose interest and motivation.
However, with my group lessons and 1-1 lessons, I ensure that my students are constantly happy with what they are learning and I am always ready to listen to what they have to say!
Music Qualifications & Achievements:
I’ve gone up to grade 4 ABRSM, however, didn’t enjoy the music that I was playing so decided to devote my time to the pieces I was playing in my orchestra and also to learning complex violin solos such as Hungarian dance no.5 by Brahms and one of my personal favourites Saint-Saëns, Danse Macabre.
I’ve toured around Europe with the Wandsworth Philharmonia Orchestra going to amazing cities such as Prague, Mosel, Roses, Tuscany and many more! Also annually with the orchestra, I had the amazingly rare opportunity to play at the Wimbledon tennis courts opening with the famous theme purple and green by tony cox!
Additionally, we played at the Royal Festival Hall annually playing a range of pop, classical and jazz music. Some of my favourites being ‘Rather be’ – clean bandit, Stevie wonder medley, Georges Bizets Les Toreadors.
