James has been playing drums since 1986, playing all over the U.K, and contributing drums & percussion on three well-received albums by singer-songwriter Nicky Swann.
He has written for Modern Drummer, Drumhead, and Music Teacher magazine.
James became a Drumsense tutor in 2008 and became a Drumsense Master Tutor in January 2013.
He now teaches a very healthy roster of private students of various ages & levels, also teaching in several schools as a peripatetic tutor, as well as providing drum tuition for Exeter University music scholarships.
James uses Yamaha drums & electronics. He is also a proud endorser of Istanbul Mehmet cymbals.
He’s married with three children and lives in Totnes, Devon.
