About Jacob Lamb
Hey there! My name is Jacob, I’m a professional musician and teacher living in Massachusetts with my wife and two boys, and music has always played a central role in our lives. From writing songs in my early teens to studying at Berklee College of Music starting in 2014, I’ve built my life around music — not just as a performer or writer, but as a teacher who genuinely enjoys helping others find their style and sound.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students, from absolute beginners to experienced players wanting to refine their skills.
In addition to private teaching, I also get to work with three of the most well-known names in the guitar education world: Ultimate Guitar, TrueFire, and Guitar Tricks. These platforms have allowed me to reach tens of thousands of students across the globe, and they’ve taught me how to communicate musical concepts clearly, concisely, and in ways that are engaging and motivating.
My teaching approach is entirely centered around the student. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all music instruction. Every student has unique goals, learning styles, musical tastes, and schedules. Whether you want to play your favorite songs, improve your technique, dive into theory, write original music, or just feel more confident with your instrument, I’ll tailor our lessons to support what matters most to you.
I draw from a wide toolbox of techniques to help students feel successful and challenged at the same time. For some, that might mean breaking down complex theory into bite-sized, easy-to-understand pieces. For others, it’s about learning by doing; jamming, creating, experimenting, and having fun. My background in songwriting also gives me a strong foundation in melody, harmony, chord progressions, and lyric writing, which can be incredibly useful for students who want to write or arrange music of their own.
In addition to guitar, I’ve worked with students on songwriting, basic music production, performance, and creative expression. I know how personal music can be, it’s not just about learning scales or chords, it’s about expressing something and enjoying the process. My goal is to support that journey in a way that’s encouraging, structured, and deeply rewarding.
If you’re looking for a teacher who will meet you where you’re at, help you set realistic and exciting goals, and make learning feel inspiring rather than overwhelming, I’d love to work with you. Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time or returning after a break, there’s always a next step, and I’d be honored to help you take it.
Lesson prices
When you book lessons with me, you’re reserving not just a session, but a dedicated time slot in my teaching schedule. Because of this, I do not offer makeup lessons or refunds for missed or canceled lessons by the student, regardless of the reason. This policy helps ensure consistency and fairness for all students, as that time has been set aside specifically for you.
However, if I need to cancel a lesson for any reason, I will always offer a makeup session or issue a credit for a future lesson — whichever you prefer.
I encourage students to treat their lesson time as a valuable commitment and to communicate as early as possible if scheduling becomes a challenge. Thank you for understanding and respecting this policy, which helps me provide the best possible experience to every student.
