About Fiona Smith

Experienced, creative recorder teacher offering individual and group lessons, beginner to advanced, for children and adults of all ages.

I offer a technique-based approach but can adapt my teaching to suit the needs of individual students. I can coach all the principal styles and repertoires required of recorder players – Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque including early Italian and French repertoires, contemporary/ avant-garde, jazz and folk. I enjoy ensemble coaching and currently lead three ensembles.

I have a background in historical performance practice and can coach in music history and theory, as well as aural and sight singing.

I am a member of the European Recorder Teachers’ Association (ERTA) and constantly seek tk develop and improve my teaching practice.
