Estella Luzuriaga

Hello! I’m Estella Luzuriaga, a vocal, piano, songwriting, and music theory teacher with over 24 years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of children, teenagers, adults, hobbyists, performers, and aspiring professionals develop confidence, technical excellence, and a genuine love for music.

Originally from Singapore, I served as the Academic Director of Lee Wei Song Music Academy, one of Singapore’s respected contemporary music schools. Today, I teach from my professional home studio, Brinton Oaks Studio in Katy, Texas, where I offer both in-person and online lessons for students across different ages and skill levels.

My teaching philosophy is simple: every student learns differently. Rather than forcing everyone into the same method, I tailor lessons around each student’s goals, strengths, musical tastes, and learning style. Whether you’re preparing for graded examinations, auditions, performances, worship ministry, recording projects, or simply fulfilling a lifelong dream of learning music, I will guide you with patience, encouragement, and structured progression.

I specialize in contemporary commercial music (CCM), including pop, worship, musical theatre, contemporary piano, songwriting, music production fundamentals, and keyboard skills. My vocal teaching incorporates modern voice science, healthy vocal technique, breath coordination, resonance development, vocal agility, mix voice, belt technique, performance coaching, microphone technique, and vocal health. I also help singers build confidence so they can perform comfortably without fear or strain.

For piano students, I combine traditional foundations with modern musicianship. Beyond reading notation, students learn chords, ear training, improvisation, accompaniment patterns, lead sheet reading, Nashville Number System, harmonization, and contemporary styles that allow them to play today’s music rather than relying solely on classical repertoire. I especially enjoy helping adult beginners who have always wanted to play but never had the opportunity to start.

Songwriting is another area I’m passionate about. Students interested in composing their own music learn melody writing, chord progressions, lyric development, song structure, arranging, and creative workflow. I also introduce students to recording concepts using modern digital audio workstations, making lessons especially valuable for independent artists who want to release original music.

My qualifications include the Licentiate of the London College of Music (LLCM) in Popular Music Vocals with Distinction, Yamaha teaching certifications, Trinity College London qualifications, AMEB certifications, Estill Voice Training, and membership with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). I remain committed to continuing professional development so my students benefit from current, evidence-based teaching methods.
