About

About

I’m Emiliano Bonanomi, a professional guitarist and educator based in Camden, London, teaching electric, acoustic and classical guitar from beginner to advanced. Alongside teaching, I perform widely in musical theatre (recent credits include Rent, The Witches of Eastwick, Hairspray, Into the Woods, Violet, Head Over Heels) and with top UK function bands (Vivid Music – Encore Top 10, The Supreme Collective, Motown Gold). This active performing life keeps my lessons practical, current and inspiring.

Qualifications & approach

  • PGCert in Performance Teaching (Distinction) – Guildhall School of Music & Drama
  • MMus in Popular Music Performance – ICMP/UEL

Lessons are tailored to your goals: strong fundamentals (technique, fretboard fluency, tone, timing), sight-reading, music theory, ear training & transcribing, improvisation, and studio skills (click, backing tracks, recording). You can pursue RSL Rockschool, Trinity Classical or Trinity Rock & Pop (Grades 1–8), prepare for GCSE/A-Level performance, auditions, or simply play for enjoyment with clear structure and measurable progress.

I aim to keep lessons flexible and supportive while respecting both my students’ time and my own teaching schedule.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. With 24 hours or more notice, the lesson will simply be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed lessons without prior notice will be charged in full, as that time has been reserved for you.

If I ever need to reschedule a lesson, I will also provide as much notice as possible, and the lesson will always be rearranged at a time that suits you.

This policy ensures fairness and consistency while keeping scheduling flexible for genuine situations that may arise.

Performance Opportunities, Performance Coaching & Accompaniment Services

While I don’t currently organise public student performances, I place strong emphasis on performance preparation and presentation skills within lessons.

Students taking graded exams (RSL, Trinity, Rockschool) record their digital performance submissions in my studio, where I provide guidance on setup, sound, and stagecraft, and personally curate and edit their audio and video to meet exam board standards before submission.

I also offer performance coaching for GCSE and A-Level coursework, DofE Skills Section activities, and audition preparation, helping students refine technique, musicality, and confidence under performance conditions.

Each student’s goals are supported through realistic practice planning, performance simulation, and constructive feedback — building both technical fluency and stage confidence in a relaxed, professional setting.

My Musical Inspirations

I first picked up the guitar after hearing Brian May — I was fascinated by the way he made the instrument sing with melody and emotion. That love for expressive, storytelling guitar playing has stayed with me ever since.

From there, I was drawn to the great ’80s guitar heroes like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen, and the anthemic rock of Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. Later, I found inspiration in the blues and pop stylings of John Mayer and Joe Bonamassa, and eventually expanded into the funk, soul, and modern electropop sounds that I now perform professionally.

These influences shaped my approach as both a performer and teacher — balancing technical skill with tone, feel, and creativity. Whether a student loves classic rock, pop, or contemporary styles, I always aim to help them find their own voice on the instrument.
