I am a Royal College of Music-trained classical guitar teacher & author of ‘Play Classical Guitar’.

Over 35 years I have taught some many hundreds of people at all levels: from first lesson to preparation for music college. Each person has a unique understanding of how they hear and control their hands; I am expert in spotting this in the first lesson, and I work with your natural tendencies, rather than against them.

I teach to actually play the guitar before going anywhere near notation (as with Flamenco & Suzuki). This means we solve one thing at a time. I am also a professional composer and have a deep understanding of how music works, which unlocks the physicality of mastering an instrument.

I partly use my book ‘Play Classical Guitar’ (three editions, incl. Spanish). It has 100 specially written educational pieces – but combine this with ideas and music tailored to you, the student.
