About Christopher Stott
Christopher Stott was born on November 21, 1984, in Annapolis, Maryland. He began studying piano at the age of six with Denise Buscemi, a Peabody Conservatory–trained pianist and operatic singer. His early musical development led naturally to composition, and he wrote original works throughout his elementary, middle, and high school years, later composing a Mass during his college studies. His compositional output now comprises a substantial and diverse body of work.
Stott studied piano with concert pianist Reynaldo Reyes at Towson University and with John Wicklegren at Mount St. Mary’s University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, with concentrations in concert piano and music composition. He further expanded his musical training through a month-and-a-half study abroad experience in Salzburg, Austria, and has also taught piano. As a performer, Stott has presented works by Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff.
In addition to his musical career, Stott worked as a legislative assistant in both chambers of the Maryland General Assembly prior to attending law school. Following law school, he served as a law clerk with several Maryland law firms, as well as with the United States Department of Justice and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. In recent years, he has returned more fully to composition through his work with Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. He is often found composing while his dog, Mr. Wiggins, sits nearby in amusement.
