About

About

Fun and friendly singing tutor based in Norwich. I teach students of all ages and abilities, one-on-one or in small groups, both in-person and online. I always tailor my lessons to suit each student’s needs and interests. I can help you discover your voice for the first time, build confidence, prepare for auditions and performances, and progress through exams. I also teach beginner musicians how to read music and develop core musicianship.

About me

I am a classically trained soprano and completed my studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera School. I enjoy a busy performing career and have appeared with Northern Opera Group, Pop Up Opera, Edvard Grieg Kor and Bergen National Opera.

As an experienced tutor, I enjoy working with aspiring singers of all ages and abilities, helping you sing the music you love in the healthiest way possible. I am happy to work on a wide range of repertoire, including opera and classical pieces, musical theatre, pop and film music, jazz standards and anything in between. I can help you prepare for concerts and exams, and I teach the building blocks of music to anyone who would like to learn to read notation and grasp basic music theory.

My pupils all sing for pleasure, but I have also helped many of them to attain qualifications at a high level. Many of my pupils have taken ABRSM singing exams, from Prep Test to Grade 8, with a 100% pass rate. I have also helped past pupils to secure choral scholarships at Oxford University and places at the BRIT School.

I run a warm, neurodiversity affirming studio, and along with my work as a musician, I am also a fully-qualified ADHD coach.

Lesson description

Technical developmentLessons begin with physical and vocal warm-ups and targeted technical exercises. We pay attention to posture, breath support and a healthy, free production of sound. As every voice is unique, exercises are tailored to each student and are easy to practise at home between lessons.

MusicianshipI teach novice musicians to read notation and understand basic music theory, and I help students develop their aural skills. When tackling repertoire, we focus on rhythmic and melodic accuracy and a clear understanding of structure and style.

PerformanceThe fun part. We work on interpreting a song and making it your own. Together we hone artistry and musicality, explore approaches to storytelling, and develop a range of expressive vocal colours. I can help students overcome stage fright and nerves and build confidence and stage presence.

Exams and resultsI prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity singing exams from Prep Test to Grade 8 and beyond. I have a 100% pass rate, and I have also helped past pupils to secure choral scholarships at Oxford University and places at the BRIT School.

PracticalitiesLessons take place at my home studio in Norwich NR4, or online via Google Meet. One-to-one and small groups may be possible by arrangement (message for details regarding group rates).
