Mr. Brandon Poonwassie is a Music Instructor with the Ministry of Education who enjoys both performing and teaching. Mr. Poonwassie holds many certifications, these include:
1. Bachelor of Arts Musical Arts (Special) First Class Honours (University of the West Indies
2. Certificate in Indian Classical Music (Sangeet Prathama) – (University of Trinidad and Tobago)
3. Certificate in the Music Industry Technical Camp – (DianJen Media Company)

In combining these two passions, Mr. Poonwassie teaches piano, keyboard, guitar, harmonium, dholak, tabla, steelpan and music theory (Indian Classical and Western Classical) to students via Zoom and/or in-person.

Under the tutelage of Mr. Poonwassie, many students obtained certification from ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall London, RSL and The Pan Exams (University of the West Indies). Students also placed first in competitions hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival.

Mr. Poonwassie selects attractive books and games to make learning fun. Sessions are specifically tailored to the students’ goals and are designed to develop effective technique, musicianship skills (reading, theory, musical styles, performance and aural skills) and creativity.

Cancelation & Rescheduling Policy

Dear Parent/Student, 

Please note the following and acknowledge receipt and agreement of the updated policy.

Class Sessions/Recording Sessions/Exams/Performances/Competitions

– Parents/Students who cancel the upcoming session with 24 hours or more notice, no fee will be attached.

– If the student fails to show up or cancel within the 24 hour policy, the lesson will not be made up and the session fee will be attached. If there is a legitimate reason for not attending, the session fee will be waived. 

– If the student is 15 minutes late, and a legitimate reason is provided (i.e. family emergency) the remainder of the session time will be given. If no legitimate reason is provided, the lesson time will be forfeited and the session fee will be attached.   

– Providing the teacher is unable to attend the assigned lesson time, the student will be  given a make-up session at a mutual convenient time. 

– Your lesson time is reserved specifically for you. If you fail to cancel in the designated amount of time, there will be no make-up.

– Cancelation or no-show for 3-weeks consecutively with no legitimate reason, sessions will be reviewed and parent will be contacted.

– There will be no babysitting before/after sessions as there will be other sessions in progress. This applies for student drop-offs. (Parents need to pick up children on time)

– Reminders for class are sent via email and sms messages 24hrs in advance. If you are unsure of your class time, please check in the student portal-calendar to view or set a reminder on your end. 

– Cancelation and rescheduling can be done via WhatsApp, phone call, sms, email or on the student portal (calendar). Please give ample time for rescheduling. 

– Parents and students are encouraged to use the “practice log” tab on the student portal menu to log practice times, send written notes, upload practice videos, upload music theory homework, write questions or concerns.

– BP Music Studio highly encourages students to participate in examinations (Trinity College London, RSL, ABRSM) as well as performances and competitions to showcase their progress. 

Parent/Guardian Involvement Policy

– Communication: Parents and guardians are encouraged to maintain open communication with the school to support their child’s progress. Regular updates will be provided on the student’s performance.

 

– Parent Observations: Parents are welcome to observe lessons, but should refrain from interrupting or distracting the student during class time.

 

– Student Feedback: Parents are encouraged to provide feedback regarding their child’s experience at the school to ensure continuous improvement.
