About Arvind Roy
I am Dr. Arvind Roy from India, a teacher and researcher by profession, with academic specialization in audio signal processing. My research work focuses on music and speech signal processing, allowing me to deeply understand how sound, rhythm, pitch, and timing interact—both technically and musically. This unique intersection of engineering and music strongly influences the way I teach guitar, especially to beginners and children.
I have been learning and practicing the guitar for over 15 years and have spent the last 5 years actively teaching music to children in India. During this time, I have worked closely with students of different age groups and learning styles. Many of my former students, even after relocating or changing schedules, continue to request online classes because they enjoy my teaching style and feel comfortable with the way I engage and guide them. I consider this continued trust from students and parents as one of the most meaningful validations of my approach to teaching.
I firmly believe that the best way to learn any skill—especially a musical instrument—is through strong fundamentals and well-structured practice. Rather than overwhelming students with complex concepts, I focus on breaking down every lesson into small, manageable drills. These drills are designed to build muscle memory, coordination, rhythm, and confidence step by step. Over time, this method helps students play naturally and comfortably, instead of mechanically memorizing songs.
In addition to my experience as a music teacher, I am also formally trained in modern teaching methodologies. I have completed a teaching certification from IUCEE (Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education), where I learned evidence-based instructional techniques. I consciously apply the ARCS model of learning—Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction—in my classes. For children, this means lessons that are engaging and fun, clearly connected to their interests, structured to build confidence gradually, and designed to give them a sense of achievement at every stage.
I pay special attention to how children respond emotionally to learning. I understand that patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement are just as important as technical accuracy. My classes are structured, yet friendly; disciplined, yet enjoyable. Whether conducted online or offline, I ensure that students feel supported, motivated, and excited to practice.
Teaching is not just a profession for me—it is something I genuinely enjoy and take pride in. I see every class as a shared journey of learning and growth. If you are considering guitar lessons for your child, I invite you to attend a free demo class and experience my teaching approach firsthand before deciding whether to continue.
