About Anson Tang
Pianist Anson Tang has captivated audiences with his deeply emotional performances. Despite challenges related to his physical condition, he become a scholar under the Lee Hysan Foundation and graduated from the prestigious Royal College of Music in London in 2024. He is the first wheelchair user to graduate from the college’s keyboard faculty, where he studied under Professor Nigel Clayton. He is also generously supported by Talent Unlimited since 2023.
Anson has performed internationally across Europe, Asia, and America. He made his debut in 2019 and has since collaborated as a soloist with distinguished orchestras, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Asian Chamber Orchestra. In 2024, he performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., marking a major milestone in his career.
Frequently invited to perform publicly, Anson has taken part in several music and arts festivals. Highlights include SPARK Festival in 2021 organized by the British Council Hong Kong, Hong Kong Museum of Art’s “City Dress Up: Blossoming Stairs” event, , and the Head On Photo Festival in 2022 at the Royal College of Music. In addition to his work as a soloist, Anson has collaborated with renowned musicians such as violinist Midori Gotō and Hong Kong pianist Colleen Lee.
Anson has achieved remarkable results in local and international competitions. Notably, he won the celebrated VSA International Young Soloists Award in 2023 and performed at the celebratory concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. In the same year, he received a special mention in the Birmingham International Music Competition and recently won third place in the Watford International Piano Competition.
