I’m Alejandro Masafret, a professional bass player since 1997 and a bass teacher since 2000. I have been teaching for more than 25 years and have worked with students at every level, from complete beginners to advanced players and professional musicians.

My lessons are fully personalized. Before deciding what we are going to study, I want to understand what music you enjoy, what you would like to achieve, how you currently practice, and what difficulties you are experiencing. From there, we build a clear and practical learning plan around your goals.

Some students want to improve their groove, timing, technique, harmony, improvisation, reading, repertoire, tone, or fretboard knowledge. Others simply feel they have reached a plateau and need structure, feedback, and a clearer idea of what to work on next. I also work with students who are starting from zero and want to build solid foundations from the beginning.

I believe lessons should be useful, but they should also be enjoyable. Many of my students stay with me for years, and one of the things they often value most is that the lessons feel relaxed, practical, clear, and genuinely adapted to them. I do not use the same method for everyone. The material, exercises, songs, and pace are chosen according to each student’s level, musical taste, and objectives.

I teach exclusively online. My studio is set up specifically for remote bass lessons, with studio-quality audio, professional lighting, and multiple cameras. This allows you to see both hands clearly, hear the bass properly, follow demonstrations from different angles, and have an experience that feels much closer to being in the same room than a standard video call.

As a professional bass player, I have toured, recorded, and performed with a wide range of artists and musicians. My professional experience includes concerts, studio work, live performance, tours, and festivals. Over the years I have worked with artists including Rozalén, Soraya Arnelas, Antonio José, Andrés Suárez, Ana Belén, Nacha Pop, Pablo López, and others.

That professional experience is useful in lessons because I can help you understand not only technique and theory, but also how those ideas work in real music: how to support a song, how to create a solid groove, how to prepare repertoire, how to communicate with other musicians, how to make good musical choices, and how to develop a more confident and musical approach to the instrument.

Although I have worked mainly as a private teacher, I have also taught at several music schools, including Escuela de Música Moderna de Narón, RockSchool A Coruña, Escuela Schoenberg, and Escuela de Blues de Madrid.

I work with a wide range of musical styles, including rock, pop, funk, blues, soul, jazz, R&B, Latin music, and many others. We can also work on more advanced bass techniques such as slap, tapping, double thumb, muting, articulation, and different approaches to tone and dynamics when these are relevant to your goals.

My usual students have one lesson per week, although I can also work with a flexible schedule when needed. I normally reserve a regular weekly time for each student so that there is consistency and continuity in the learning process.
