Teaching Piano and Performing are two fundamental aspects of my life. On July 2016, after two wonderful years Masters in Piano Accompaniment, I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London with Distinction. Alongside my studies and active Performance career, I built up an experience of 11 years in Piano teaching both privately and for Music School. In practical terms, my tasks are as follow: Preparing pupils (adults and children) for grade examination (ABRSM and Trinity – Guildhall); Teaching Music Theory; Preparing lessons and applying teaching methods to suit each pupil according to their age and needs; Providing a varied and enjoyable range of activities to improve pupils technical abilities and inspire them to enjoy practising between lessons. Music can improve people life and I believe that learning a musical instrument can positively affect one’s life and becoming a better human being. I strongly believe that teaching Piano is not only a matter of achieving Grades but it is also a way to help my students to communicate their feelings and emotions through music. I must admit that I am learning a lot from my pupils and they constantly surprise me with their imagination. My students say that I am passionate, fun patient, enthusiastic (sometimes a bit too much!) and organised Piano teacher. I currently have only few slots left in the afternoon and I am willing to teach adults in the mornings. It is never too late to learn!!! Music Qualifications & Achievements: Masters of Arts in Piano Accompaniment with Distinction, Royal Academy of Music, London 2014 – 2016 Second Level Academic Diploma in Piano Performance (interpretation – composition oriented) with summa cum laude (110/110 cum laude), Istituto musicale V. Bellini, Caltanissetta, Italy 2006 – 2009 Diploma di Maturitá classica, Liceo Classico Ugo Foscolo, Canicattí First Level Academic Diploma in Piano Performance with summa cum laude, Istituto Musicale V. I have been a professional pianist and teacher for more than thirty years, having performed all over the world in classical, jazz, world music and pop genres. I have taught piano for around 30 years in my own home, traveling to pupils’ houses and in several Primary and Secondary schools. I have also taught for many years in two Music Schools. More recently, I have been teaching online too using a multiple camera setup, including a camera placed directly above the keyboard. Having worked as a musician in many musical styles, I try to meet the individual needs of each pupil, whether they wish to learn classical, jazz or pop music. I teach all styles to grade 8 level and above, and can enter pupils into ABRSM or Trinity classical or jazz grades, Rockschool or Trinity Rock and Pop grades etc. I also enjoy teaching those who do not wish to take graded exams, and I have a catalogue of my own written arrangements of Classical, Jazz and Pop pieces to suit all tastes and abilities. In addition, I can write a bespoke arrangement of any piece a student wishes to learn, tailored to their individual needs. Music Qualifications & Achievements: Grade 8 in Piano, Violin and Music Theory Bachelor degree in music at Birmingham Conservatoire/University

Piano lessons: what to expect

Piano lessons near you

Great piano lessons combine structured technical development with repertoire that inspires you. Search by location to find local teachers for in-person tuition, or choose online lessons to access specialist tutors in your chosen style.

Who piano lessons are for

Piano suits learners of all ages — children, teens, adults and returning players. Lessons can be tailored to beginners, hobbyists, exam candidates, and aspiring performers.

What you’ll learn in piano lessons

Lessons focus on technique, rhythm, reading, ear training, and musical expression. Teachers create progressive plans so you consistently improve week-to-week.

Online vs in-person piano lessons

Online lessons are effective for repertoire, theory and technique when recorded materials and clear audio/video setup are used. In-person lessons offer direct physical guidance and instrument-specific coaching.

A simple learning path for piano

A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.

Weeks 1–6: Foundations
1

Develop posture, hand position, basic sight-reading, simple scales and arpeggios, and a practice routine that builds consistent progress.

Months 2–6: Technique & repertoire
2

Expand technique with scales, arpeggios and exercises; learn pieces across styles and build expressive playing and musicality.

Months 6+: Style & performance
3

Refine interpretation, explore improvisation or accompaniment, and prepare confidently for exams, recitals, or studio sessions.

Getting started: what you need

Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.

  • A reliable upright or digital piano with weighted keys is ideal — full-size 88-key preferred.
  • Piano bench at the correct height helps maintain relaxed posture and technique.
  • A metronome and a simple practice plan (20–40 minutes daily) yield far better results than occasional long sessions.
