I have started my BMus (Hons) Performance (piano) degree at the Royal College of Music in September. I have had some experience in teaching piano and cello previously, mainly non-official teaching for my family and friends. I would like to expand this as a career and work with other students as well. I have been a principal cellist for two years in secondary school, as well as a soprano section leader for one year, which has helped me in enhanced my skills in coaching. I have experience in not necessarily teaching young children, but working with them. I believe I am able to work with young children as well as in music teaching. I have also completed my ABRSM Grade 8 theory examination with merit. I will be able to teach the theory of grades 1-5. Furthermore, I have achieved “Distinction” in my dipABRSM piano examination, as well as “Merit” in my ABRSM cello examination. I believe that I would be able to work with aspiring pianists and cellists in a wide range of age groups and help them explore music in a fun way. Music Qualifications & Achievements: Having developed a strong passion for music since a young age, Hilary has engaged in music activities extensively, performing in various venues, including Hong Kong, Italy, the USA and more. She started taking piano lessons at the age of six and later on engaged in activities of other music disciplines. Apart from playing as a solo pianist, she has engaged in playing as an accompanist, in piano duets, ensembles and chamber music. Determined to broaden her horizons and have the opportunity to exchange thoughts of music with different people, she has played in many masterclasses and participated in music festivals, allowing her to enrich her musical knowledge and perspective on music. Over the years, she has been participating in a diverse range of competitions. She has participated in different competition classes in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival competition, including piano solos and duets, for more than 10 years, having been awarded first place in piano solo and third place in a piano duet. At the same time, she has participated in a variety of international music competitions. For instance, she has joined in the piano solo category of the Osaka International Music Competition – Hong Kong Semi-finals in August 2019, being awarded second place and the qualification to participate in the final rounds, which took place in Osaka in October the same year. Competitions have helped her gained a lot of inspiration in expressing music and also in the aspect of strengthening her musicianship.

I have proven track records of success in exams, competitions and performance. Currently on the list an International Music Exam Board. DBS clearance. Highly qualified with caring and sense of humour, regular, responsible and professional for the past 25 years of piano teaching. Proofs of the above might be shown when we first meet upon request. Personally, I prefer f2f lesson than online but would also be flexible so that a mixed mode of learning becomes possible. We are in KT17 and W3 and our home studio accommodates good grand piano so does our converted garage. Two of my students also passed with Grade 8 high distinction early this year at the age of 8. Whatever your aspirations at the piano, I can show you how to reach them! I specialise in accompanying classical singers and recently graduated from the National Opera Studio in London. As a freelance accompanist I work with organistations such as Opera North and The Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra. I started learning the piano aged 7 after being inspired by the 'magic box' in the corner that my mum played. I went on to study at Oxford and Yale universities and the Royal Northern College of Music and have performed in many exciting venues across the UK including the Brighton Dome, Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Cadogan Hall, Wales Millennium Centre and Symphony Hall Birmingham. I hold associate and licentiate diplomas in piano performance and have taught privately for 14 years as well as in Schools across South London. Although I take a strictly optional approach to exams, I have knowledge of the ABRSM syllabus and my students have received merit and distinction awards in ABRSM exams. I teach my students to understand three key areas of great piano playing: technique, understanding the score and expression. Technically I will introduce you to a Russian tradition of piano playing to develop strong fingertips supported by the wrist and arm for fluency and beauty. From beginner to advanced levels I will teach you how to understand how the 'recipe' in music is put together to you can feel confident that you understand deeply what to play. Throughout everything I will focus on expression, the stories and emotions in the music that make it so thrilling. In a typical lesson you can expect to look at some physical 'workouts' to develop your technique before working on your favourite pieces of music to understand how its put together and how to find expression. My philosophy is to use the lesson to teach how to practice on your own during the week so you can really own what you're doing. Hi, my name is Robert! I am a conductor, singer, composer and teacher based in London. I started learning piano when I was about 3 years old and studied at Junior Guildhall until the age of 8. I then sang as a chorister in the choir of New College, Oxford, where I also began to play the cello. During my teens, I continued to sing and compose, and also played in many ensembles including the Thames Vale Youth Orchestra. At the University of Manchester, I began to study conducting, eventually directing the University chamber choir, Ad Solem, as well as working with other choral ensembles, and the University’s baroque and symphony orchestras. During this time I also sang in the Genesis Sixteen choral program, which offered intensive training for elite young choral singers led by The Sixteen. I have been teaching singing, piano, cello and conducting privately ever since graduating, as well as directing several choirs and ensembles. I have also completed a conducting scholarship with the Leeds Festival Chorus, and a fellowship program with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, for whom I am regularly employed as a singer, conductor and coach. I can offer singing and conducting tuition at all standards, and piano and cello up to about grade 5. American Taiwanese pianist, Alicia Juan is an active young pianist who has won several international competitions. She has completed a funded bachelor and fully funded master degree at Royal College of Music. With 6+ years of teaching experience, on top of private teaching, she is currently teaching the piano at Marymount International School and German School London.

Kieran is a highly experienced London-based music tutor able to teach multiple instruments and having done so in several countries. He currently works part-time for the Harrow Music Service and as a private one-to-one tutor in London. Prior to this, he had worked as a self-employed peripatetic in West Yorkshire, which itself had been preceded by working for the highly renowned Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, and also a stint in the USA co-leading a music programme at a summer camp. As an instrumentalist Kieran is foremost a guitarist and can offer lessons in electric, classical and acoustic guitar. However, he can also teach piano, music theory, composition and arranging. Kieran is a great admirer of the renowned music educator Paul Harris and in particular, buys into his simultaneous learning technique. With this, all the areas that need to be developed in order to play a musical instrument are developed from the off at an equal speed, reducing the likelihood of students having a lopsided understanding of their instrument and a limited appreciation of all the skills needed to be a musician. This means no two students learn everything in the same order and Kieran is not just repeating the same blueprint every time. Consequently, students of his really understand the music they are playing from an early moment and are much more likely to sooner hit the magic stage where they go from being tutor dependent learners to self-dependent learners. Ultimately, what Kieran wishes to achieve with each student is to develop a love of playing music that will last a person’s lifetime. Although by no means a core principle of his teaching rationale, Kieran is more than happy to help students prepare for musical examination should they wish to go down this avenue. He has experience with the syllabuses of all the major examination boards, including Trinity, Rockschool, ABRSM and London College of Music and students that have entered under his tuition can currently boast a 100% pass rate. Kieran is able to offer either face-to-face or online lessons. For the former, lessons can take place either in his home or at the clients’ residence, dependent on availability and location. For the latter he has years of experience of doing it and so is comfortably able to adapt to the different demands that the format requires. As a performer, Kieran works in a variety of musical genres that, from the perspective of learning and rehearsing music, all operate in slightly different ways. As a result, he has first-hand experience of all of the main ways music can be taught (e.g. aurally, visually, and kinesthetically). Hi, I’m Josh Brierley, a trombone and piano player and teacher based in London. I also teach the Euphonium and Music Theory. I’ve played these instruments for over 12 years, and during that time I have been involved in huge different number of different projects and performances. Formally, I was a student at Chetham’s School of Music and I was also a member of both the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. During my time in the National Youth Orchestra I was given the oppurtunity to be the Creative Collective of the trombone section. This gave me lots of experience with planning and leading workshops, as well as giving me the chance to teach some students one – two – one. Though outreach projects with Chetham’s School, I have planned and lead workshops with a range of school children, and I’ve really enjoyed watching other musicians develop around me.
