My Mission

Lessons Tailored To You

I have always had a huge passion for performing. I started out as a budding actor, singing in school choirs and performances in and out of school. As I got older I established my own music taste and started to explore. The more music I heard the more inspired I became to pick up and instrument myself.

Know Your Way Around the Drum Kit

In my drum lessons, I take the time to ensure every student feels comfortable and familiar with the drum kit, which is essential for achieving fast results and developing drummer skills. As your music teacher, I will guide you through each component so you can confidently play and perform with ease.

Snare Drum

The snare drum is the heartbeat of the drum kit. It’s typically placed between your knees and is known for its sharp, crisp sound. In my teaching, we focus on mastering the snare drum because it's a critical element in both beginner and advanced specific lessons.

Bass Drum

Controlled by the foot pedal, the bass drum provides the deep, resonant thud that forms the foundation of many percussion rhythms. My lessons include techniques to help students effectively incorporate the bass drum into various genres.

Toms

These drums come in different sizes and pitches. They add depth and variation to your drumming. Through practical tuition, I’ll teach you how to creatively use the toms in your playing.

Hi-Hat

The hi-hat cymbals, played with foot and stick, are critical for maintaining rhythm. Students quickly see how versatile the hi-hat can be, offering different tones and dynamics. These elements are fundamental in achieving musical goals in my in-person sessions.

Cymbals

Including the ride and crash cymbals can help add colour and emphasis to your music. Together, we will explore the various ways cymbals can be used to enhance your drumming, adding flair to both beginner and advanced drummer performances.

Hardware

The stands, pedals, and mounts are often overlooked, but they’re crucial to your comfort and effectiveness when playing. In my lessons, attention is paid to setting up your kit in a way that maximises your playing ability and comfort, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable drumming journry.

As I guide you through the intricacies of the drum kit, the aim is always to build your confidence and proficiency, helping create a drummer who is comfortable in any setting, whether alone or playing with a band. Whether you're a child enthusiast aiming to play with school friends, an adult rekindling a passion, or a musician looking to expand your percussion expertise, these insights into the drum kit will enhance your learning journey. Let's create music together and see how you can excel both in and out of the studio.
