Joe holds a Professional Diploma in Modern Music after studying at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music. Joe encourages students to push their limits and strive to be the best they can be. His approach to learning inspires creativity, confidence and originality, which is something he strongly believes in as he is always keen to hear new music.
I am a patient guitar teacher who is passionate about communicating musical technique. Drawing from a rich background in diverse musical genres, I bring a distinctive teaching approach that ensures success. I don't just focus on theory memorisation; instead, I make learning engaging and effective by demonstrating musical examples in action, training the ear as much as the fingers. Qualifications: RSL Grade 8 (Electric Guitar)
I am extremely passionate about music, having played the piano from the age of 5, drums from age 9, guitar from age 14 and bass guitar from age 19. I began gigging as a drummer around the age of 15, and was hooked straight away! I knew then all I wanted to do was play and teach drums professionally, which I’ve been doing now for the last 15 years. Many teachers start with a year of marching drum patterns on the snare drum alone – I guarantee you will be playing a full drum beat and drum roll round the kit by the end of your 1st lesson! Beginners to advanced all catered for. Have worked with children as young as 4 as well as retired adults! Parents welcome to sit in on 1st lesson Learn on proper acoustic drums, not electric kits as many teachers use! Grades or no grades – your choice! Musician’s Union registered, fully insured Music Qualifications & Achievements: I have played the drums for 30 years, having started at the age of 9! I’ve been a professional session drummer and tutor for around 15 years now, and have played in well over 50 bands up and down the country, as well as performing in Turkey, The Philippines, Thailand, in a wide range of styles and genres.
I have been a drummer for over 25 years and my professional career saw me touring the U.K. and Europe extensively. I also have a vast experience of sound engineering and promoting as well as recording. Having started with snare drum and percussion at school including playing with the Bristol School's Orchestra I later started playing the drum kit and taking my playing and lessons seriously. After a great deal of experience playing with local bands I met some very talented and experienced musicians with whom I set up a highly successful professional function band. This band toured extensively every year for 10 years both in the U.K. and abroad with their favourites being Holland, Germany and Portugal gaining an excellent reputation and attracting top level management. I mixed this with deps and recordings for a variety of artists covering many different styles. I started teaching drums privately after completing my first teaching qualification (I then quickly become a fully qualified teacher through studying in my free time). After building-up a successful private practice I taught in primary and secondary schools for Bristol City Council, Bath & North East Somerset and Wiltshire County Council. I have also taught in private schools and ran several series of highly popular band workshops in youth clubs in Bristol and Bath. I currently mix teaching drums with playing regularly with a variety of bands and teaching at Bath College. I have : * An independant Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate issued by the DBS (Disclosure and Baring Service) * Public Liability Insurance issued through The Musicians Union * Musician's Union membership * Certificate of Education (teaching qualification gained in 2005) Qualifications: Cert. Ed. teaching degree, Grade 7 Guildhall Drums, Level 3 Certificate in Special Educational Needs
