My name is Mateusz and I have more than 15 years of experience in piano performance and piano teaching. I was classically trained in piano at a State School of Music in Poland and have performed extensively as a solo player, band member and accompanist. I have had opportunities to participate in live concerts, TV recordings and various studio projects both in Poland and the UK.
My musical influences vary vastly and include the classical works of Bach, Haydn and Chopin, as well as the pop or gospel influences of Alicia Keys and Kirk Franklin. I am also interested in historical musicology and the piano virtuosos of the 19th Century.
I am passionate about helping people discover their musical skills and making piano learning an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Whether you are starting out or wanting to take your piano playing to the next level, I will be happy to support you in your musical journey.
I teach most styles and genres but specialise in classical, pop and soul/gospel. I welcome both beginners and intermediate/advanced students and particularly invite those who want to return to playing the piano after a break.
The lesson content will depend largely on your learning needs and goals. I promote comprehensive musical development, so even if we focus on, for example, playing by ear, I will still encourage development in things like musical notation, reading, improvisation, or even singing! I will offer you advice and practical exercises to help with tricky passages and to improve your technique.
We will keep our lessons focused on the material we are working on, but also flexible so as not to stifle imagination and creative expression. I advocate student-led learning and will encourage you to set your own agenda and come to lessons with questions so that you benefit equally from feedback and independent learning.

- First Level State Music School, Poland – Piano (a 4-year course)

- 2016 accompanist to a Rebecca Ferguson support act
- 2006-2009 working with a gospel choir in Poland as a pianist and musical director
