Hi, my name is Rob Mills and I offer metal guitar lessons to students of all ages and abilities using online services like Zoom, Skype or Facetime.
I am a professional guitar teacher who was previously a former member of the popular rock band 'Diamond Head'. I am no longer a part of this project so now I am very happy to be providing online guitar lessons to pass on the skills I have developed over my many years of playing the guitar. The lessons I provide are taken online so you can take lessons with me from anywhere in the world. All you would need to take a lesson with me is an active internet connection and a device with a camera on it.
Thanks to the power of modern day technology, online lessons have been a great way to connect with and to help students from all over the world, not just my local area. Even though online lessons may seem a little different at first, they are actually a very effective way of learning an instrument without ever having to leave the comfort of your own home. I believe the quality of lessons provided online are just as good as if we were in the same room together taking a face to face lesson.

I have played the guitar for a long time and I love what I do. I have played hundreds of live shows and festivals including a European tour supporting the famous metal band Megadeth. I have been teaching the guitar professionally for around the last 20 years and I have worked with many different students from all walks of life in this time.
My lessons are suitable for any student who has a keen interest in heavy metal guitar playing. Heavy metal guitar players often use many advanced and complex guitar playing techniques, so I like to offer in depth and thorough online guitar lessons that cover a wide range of skills and techniques. You don't need to have any playing experience, you just need to have a passion for metal and we're good to go.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
It's okay if you don't have any metal playing experience. I will provide you with all the fundamental skills and abilities you will need to be able play any metal song you can think of.
Introduction to Metal Guitar, Simple Songs and Melodies, Power Chords
I have played guitar for the vast majority of my life and have been teaching it for the past 20 years. Over those 20 years I have not only been teaching guitar but playing and performing in many different bands too. Most notably I am a former member of the band Diamond Head. Here I had some amazing experiences performing and teaching guitar and I am now in a position to pass the skills I learnt on to my students.
One of my most famous students is Adam Zindani who is the current guitar player in the very successful welsh rock band Stereophonics. I feel even though Adam is an already well established musician and guitar player, together we have been able to help him improve that one step further and to get him to that next level. No matter what you're current playing ability is, we will always be able to help you improve your weak areas and get you to the next step.
I have recording experience too and was fortunate enough to have played on the 2006 album 'All Will Be Revealed' by Diamond Head and appeared on the 2006 Live DVD 'To the Devil His Due'. I often call upon these years of touring and performing experience to ensure that I offer high quality, well rounded and detailed metal guitar lessons that cover all the skills and techniques you'll need to be able to rock out.
Complex Songs, Advanced Music Theory, Ear Training Exercises, Advanced Playing Techniques
In 2005 I was fortunate enough to be able to go on a 23 date tour supporting the hugely successful metal band Megadeth which was a huge bucket list tick for me. We played some incredibly large shows on this tour to some really huge crowds. I learnt so many useful real world performance skills and techniques on this tour that I am very excited to share with my students.
I will always take the time in our lessons to get to know my students on an individual basis and will tailor the material and content I teach you to match your specific musical tastes. Together we will learn your favorite songs by your favorite metal artists and will have you playing through those amazing solos and riffs in no time at all.
I hold a BTEC National Diploma in Popular Music which provided me with the necessary skills I needed to be able to go and play tours and shows in various parts of the world. I also hold a qualification up to Grade 5 Music theory. I will not only been providing you with practical tips and lessons on how to play your instrument better but I will also providing you with a broader understanding of your instrument through studying and learning musical theory.

Here is some information to help you get prepared to take your online guitar lessons.
Speed Test, is a very useful tool as having a stable internet connection is one of the most important parts to these lessons. Here you will be able to see what your speeds are and we will only need a speed of 3mbps to have a stable enough connection for the lessons.
As well as a stable internet connection you will need to have access to some kind of electronic device that has a camera on it. This could be things like a laptop, tablet or a smartphone. Many things have cameras on them nowadays so once we have access to one of these you are ready to go.
Once you have a device ready to go, there are many services we can use to connect for the actual lessons. The most common and reliable services tend to be Zoom, Skype or Facetime for Apple device users. There are other options too so if these don't work for you for any reason please just let me know and we can go through other possible options together.
Playing heavy metal guitar has been a lifelong passion of mine and something I have been lucky enough to do as a career for many years. It is my goal and passion to share my skills and knowledge with my fellow shredders!

Lessons are £20 for half an hours or £32.50 for an hours tuition.
Lessons are provided online using services such as Zoom, Facetime or Skype. There are others we can try but these tend to work fine for the majority of people.
I teach students of all ages 10+.
No you can attend lessons as and when you like. I would recommend one hour a week for the most consistent progress.
Any lessons cancelled within 48 hours can still be charged for. I am happy to reschedule cancelled lessons where possible.
