Started teaching mostly violin/viola and string chamber since middle school. Started with piano, then viola which became my main instrument. I chose viola after my older brother chose violin because I wanted to be different and cooler. He ended up switching to viola later on; viola’s cool like that. I also transcribe pop, k-pop, movie and anime music mostly for string quartet/duos and some piano. Some of my arrangements are wedding/gig requests, and I also sell these on sheetmusicplus.com.

Techniques You Will Learn in Violin Lessons
Bowing Techniques
In our violin lessons, you will master various bowing techniques that are essential for producing different sounds and styles of music. We will begin with basic strokes such as détaché and legato, which are fundamental for smooth and connected playing. As you progress, we will explore more advanced techniques like spiccato on violin, where the bow bounces off the string, and ricochet, which involves a controlled series of bounces. These techniques are used in a variety of genres, from classical symphonies that require precise articulation to lively folk music with its rhythmic vitality.
Fingering and Intonation
Fingering and intonation are crucial for producing accurate pitches on the violin. In our online violin lessons, I will guide you through finger placement and shifting to ensure you hit every note precisely. We will employ video quality tools to closely examine your hand positions and correct any mistakes in real-time. This meticulous practice is beneficial for both beginners and advanced musicians, as mastering intonation allows you to play everything from Baroque pieces with intricate melodies to contemporary music requiring exact pitch control.
Vibrato and Dynamics
Learning vibrato, the oscillation of pitch that adds warmth and expression to notes, is another technique we will cover. Through Skype lessons, I will show you various methods to develop a beautiful, controlled vibrato. We will also delve into dynamics, understanding how to play softly (piano) and loudly (forte) to convey emotions in your music. These skills are essential for performing in concerts and can be found in genres like romantic classical music and soulful jazz.
Double Stops and Chords
Double stops and chords involve playing two or more strings simultaneously, adding a rich texture to your performance. In our music lessons, you will learn how to position your fingers and bow to execute these techniques correctly. This is particularly useful for playing complex pieces in classical and modern genres, giving your performance a fuller, more harmonious sound. Our virtual sessions will utilise zoom videos to provide you with a clear view of hand positions and string interactions.
Pizzicato and Special Effects
Pizzicato, where the string is plucked with fingers instead of using the bow, and other special effects like col legno (using the wood of the bow) add unique flavours to your music. These techniques are not only fun to play but also found in various styles, from contemporary compositions to experimental music. Our online sessions, enhanced by high-quality audio and video, will help you grasp these playful yet professional techniques efficiently.
