Welcome to
Welcome to Singing Lessons Milton Keynes! My name is Gwen Taylor and I am professional vocal coach teaching students from beginner levels upwards, helping them to develop their vocal strength, tonality and self-confidence through lessons.
With the majority of my students simply learning for their own pleasure my relaxed and friendly vocal tuition has helped singers young and old to improve their singing voice – enabling them to perform, take audition or simply enjoy singing. The main point here is that you'll always learn in a direction that you want to learn in. My lessons are always tailored to the students interests. I pay close attention to detail and will always make sure my students have the best possible start to your musical journey. I will help you gain good technique, understanding, ability and even higher confidence levels.
My lessons are always enjoyable and we will always learn in a direction that you want to learn in. I think that enjoying something while learning is essential to making progress. This is why I like to work around the songs that you enjoy, because, this means that you can learn to play music in way that works for you and you'll be able to understand and know exactly what you're working towards and have a clear vision of what it should sound like.

I offer students tuition in a wide range of genres including Jazz, Soul, Rock, Pop, Alternative & many more. Learning to sing should be a fun experience and I believe that all students should have a say in what they are learning. It's then my job to make sure we cover all the essential theory and understanding alongside working towards the music that you love.
I offer my tuition for students of ages 6 and above. My singing lessons will be tailored to you and we will always work at a speed that you feel comfortable with. Students of different ages and ability levels will learn at different speeds and as a teacher I recognise this and always adjust my lessons depending on the student.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginner and advanced students to learn in a wide range of styles. I will make a lesson plan that suits your needs as a player and learner and we will always learn at a speed that works for you.
I graduated with a first-class degree in Music (with Italian) from the University of Birmingham, I have since gone on to perform widely in a variety of spheres, from choral and operatic to rock and jazz.
Under the artist name Gwen and the Good Thing, I have performed my own music on the BBC Introducing stages at Glastonbury, Wilkestock, Big Feastival and Standon Calling Festival, sung live on BBC Three Counties Radio, and played at iconic London venues such as the O2 Academy Islington, the Borderline Soho and Camden Assembly. In addition, I have a wide repertoire of cover material, and perform regularly as a function musician. Alongside my vocal studies, as part of my degree, I studied paper and studio composition under Vic Hoyland and Jonty Harrison, and now predominantly write pop music for myself and other artists. My recent releases have garnered 80,000+ streams on Spotify.
I currently tutor vocal students of all ages across a wide range of genres, focusing on technique as well as performance in a friendly and relaxed environment. I can also assist you with your own songwriting and music theory studies, if you wish, and always like to include a little bit of wider musical context and information in my singing lessons.
Whether you prefer jazz, classical, pop, rock, musical theatre, death metal, or other styles, I am happy to teach them all. All styles of music are beautiful and I would encourage you to experiment or try out your voice in different ones.
After teaching throughout lockdown, I am extremely experienced at teaching via Zoom, with the full technical set up to provide lessons online.
I believe in positive reinforcement techniques and making lessons fun, at whatever level. While vocals would be the main subject of lessons, we would also cover music theory and other subjects.
Milton Keynes has always been known for its music venues but it also has a few really great music shops I would recommend checking out.
Rockhard Music, is a great place if you're looking an all round music shop that sells everything from guitars to sheet music. You can find them on 9 Canons Rd, Wolverton, Milton Keynes MK12 5TL.
Newport Music, is also a great option if you're looking for a shop that offers a great repair service for all kinds of instruments. You can find them at 10 St John St, Newport Pagnell MK16 8HJ.
If you are interested in fun vocal lessons that will make you grow, you are in the right place. If you have ever had a bad experience learning music before, stressful lessons, getting tense and straining the voice, low self-esteem or somebody telling you-you cannot do it – let me help you find joy through singing again. I will always work at a pace you can enjoy and I'm always here to answer any questions that you might have about learning.
