With many years of experience teaching guitar and music, I aim to create a fun, engaging, and rewarding learning environment for everyone—whether you're an absolute beginner or an advanced player looking to refine your skills.
Your First Lesson
Your first guitar lesson is all about getting to know you. We'll talk about your favourite tunes, artists, and goals—whether that's learning to play your favourite songs, mastering music theory, exploring songwriting, or even working on music production. My teaching process is focused on your individual needs. We’ll cover the basics if you’re just starting, or jump into more advanced techniques if you’re further along in your musical journey. The lesson space is conveniently located near Horsforth train station, so attending lessons couldn’t be easier.
A Strong Focus on Your Goals
Every student is different, and I believe in teaching simply and effectively to meet your unique goals. My lessons cover a vast range of genres and styles, from jazz, blues, and rock to pop, classical, and more. Whether your passion lies in electric guitar, acoustic guitar, or even bass, I’ll help you develop your skills step by step. Alongside playing your favourite songs, there’s also the option to branch out into writing your own music, recording, or preparing for music performance opportunities.
For All Ages and Abilities
I work with students of all ages, from young beginners to college students or adults returning to the instrument after a break. Some of my pupils aim to refine their technique for performing or reaching merits in exams, while others are passionate about learning for fun. Whatever your ability level, my lessons evolve to suit you, incorporating everything from practical skills to music theory, depending on your needs.
Flexibility and Fun
One of my top priorities as a guitar teacher is ensuring lessons are fun and flexible! Whether you're interested in exploring genres like jazz or rock, want to learn alongside another instrument like piano, ukulele, or drums, or prefer online music lessons, I can make that happen. With my passion for music and teaching, my goal is to make every lesson inspiring and enjoyable.
Learn All Styles Including Rock & Classical Guitar
As a guitar teacher, I pride myself on offering lessons tailored to a wide range of musical styles. From the vibrant riffs of rock to the intricate melodies of classical guitar, there’s a style for everyone to enjoy. My approach to teaching guitar is designed to match your interests, whether you’re simply learning songs you love, preparing for performances, or aiming to reach merits in exams.
Rock and Electric Guitar
Rock is one of the most popular styles among my students, and for good reason—it's energetic, expressive, and just plain fun. If you're an electric guitar enthusiast, we can explore everything from iconic rock anthems to more advanced techniques like solos and improvisation. Many of my students also love incorporating their favourite tunes from their favourite artists into lessons, keeping each session fresh and exciting.
Classical and Acoustic Guitar
For those who love precision and beauty, classical guitar offers an exceptional learning experience. We'll focus on fingerpicking techniques, posture, and music theory, which helps you develop a deep understanding of the pieces we play. If you're drawn to acoustic folk, pop, or singer-songwriter styles, I can guide you through mastering chord progressions and strumming patterns that pair perfectly with vocals.
Jazz, Blues, and Beyond
Jazz and blues styles are perfect for students who want to improvise and explore the emotional depth of guitar playing. Together, we'll break down the complexities of jazz chords or work on soulful blues licks to take your playing to the next level. Students in the early stages or more advanced players alike can enjoy discovering these expressive and rewarding genres.
Adding Versatility with Other Instruments
One of the key advantages of lessons with me is the flexibility to integrate other instruments into your learning. Whether it’s playing alongside drums, piano, or bass, or even taking online lessons to learn how to pair guitar with ukulele, there's no limit to what you can achieve. These skills can add richness to your musical ability and open the door to ensemble playing.
The Differences Between Acoustic and Electric Guitar
Both acoustic and electric guitars offer unique playing experiences and suit different styles of music, which is something I always emphasise in my guitar lessons in Horsforth. When helping students decide which instrument is right for them, I focus on their personal goals, musical tastes, and what truly sparks their passion for playing.
Acoustic Guitars
Acoustic guitars are perfect for beginners and experienced players alike. They produce sound naturally through the hollow body, without the need for external amplification. This makes them an ideal choice for those who enjoy genres like folk, classical, singer-songwriter styles, or acoustic rock. Acoustic guitars are straightforward, which means students can focus on music theory, finger placement, and rhythm without additional equipment.
These guitars encourage precision and technique due to their slightly heavier strings and larger necks. For Leeds college students or beginners looking to build solid foundations in their playing, acoustic guitar lessons can be extremely rewarding. Plus, acoustic guitars shine in solo performances, where their rich, resonant sound fills the room, making them a versatile and expressive choice for any student.
Electric Guitars
Electric guitars, on the other hand, open the door to an entirely different world of sound. They rely on amplification, allowing players to experiment with effects, distortion, and various tones. For students interested in exploring rock, blues, or even jazz, the electric guitar is a go-to option. Styles that involve heavier rhythms or intricate leads, such as those performed with drums, bass, or piano in recording sessions, pair beautifully with this instrument.
One of my favourite aspects of teaching electric guitar is introducing students to music production. It’s a great way to combine their playing with modern recording techniques, allowing them to create and perform their music. For those more advanced or aiming to explore genres like funk or progressive rock, learning the nuances of the electric guitar is an exciting challenge.

Through personalised teaching and a passion for helping students succeed, I ensure each session builds confidence and inspires creativity. If you’re based in Horsforth or surrounding areas, feel free to contact me about my guitar lessons, music production guidance, or group ensemble services. I pride myself on students reaching merits and together, we’ll explore styles, theory, and performance, helping you reach new musical heights!
