Lessons Tailored To You
I have played both violin and piano since I was ten, and it’s been a passion in my life to pass on the wonderful skill to others. I’m currently studying towards a Master’s degree in violin performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. I specialise in classical music and love playing in orchestras and doing chamber playing. I have extensive experience in teaching, especially younger children as I worked in a nursery, as well as working as a private nanny and music tutor. I am originally from Suffolk, but I am now based in London for my studies.

Combination of Theory and Practice
I believe that a solid foundation in music theory is essential for every student, regardless of their age or experience level. By integrating theoretical concepts with practical violin playing, students gain a deeper understanding of the music they are learning.
Equally important is the opportunity to put theory into action during our violin sessions. I encourage students to bring their favourite pieces, allowing us to dissect and analyse them together. This not only strengthens your ability to interpret music but also helps develop a personal connection to what you're playing.

Violin Lessons in All Styles
As a dedicated violin teacher in Berlin, I believe that exploring various music styles is essential for a well-rounded musical education. Each style offers unique challenges and rewards, helping you to express yourself through the versatile voice of the violin.
Classical Music
Classical music is often the foundation for many of my students. Learning to play violin in this genre provides a deep understanding of music theory and the technical aspects needed to master the instrument. Classical repertoire also helps violinists at all ages and skill levels—including beginners and advanced students—develop their technical abilities while exposing them to iconic pieces performed in orchestras.
Jazz and Improvisation
In addition to classical music, I encourage students to dabble in jazz. This style introduces fun improvisational techniques that can enhance your musicality. Playing jazz on the violin allows for creativity and emotional expression, making the learning process exciting. Many students find joy in taking lessons that focus on developing their unique voice within this genre.
Folk and Traditional Music
Folk music is often accessible for children and beginners, as it typically employs straightforward melodies and rhythms. I have found that many students enjoy the cultural and historical connections made through learning folk songs. The simplicity of these pieces enables violinists to focus on their technique while enjoying the rich traditions behind the music.
Contemporary and Pop Music
For those looking to learn violin in a modern context, I also teach styles that encompass contemporary and pop music. This approach appeals to both younger students and adults, as it connects them with music they love. Understanding how to play well-known songs can motivate beginners and advanced students alike, keeping them excited about their practice and lessons.
Regardless of the style you choose, my goal is to support you—whether you're a beginner or an experienced player— by helping you learn to read sheet music and improve your skills on this beautiful string instrument in our studio here in Berlin. Each week, we can explore these styles together, ensuring your violin lessons are both enjoyable and enriching!
Master Technique on Violin
As a passionate violin teacher in Berlin, I believe that mastering various techniques is crucial to becoming a proficient musician. In our lessons, we focus on a comprehensive set of skills that will not only enhance your playing but also deepen your understanding of music as a whole.
Bowing Techniques
Bowing is a fundamental aspect of playing the violin and can greatly influence the sound produced. Throughout our violin lessons, I will introduce you to different bowing methods, such as legato, staccato, and spiccato. These techniques allow you to create a range of expressive sounds and master pieces in styles from classical music to contemporary pop.
Fingerings and Shifting
Proper fingering is essential for playing accurately and efficiently. I’ll guide you through finger placement on the strings and help you develop shifting techniques, which enable smooth transitions between positions on the fingerboard. This skill is particularly important for viola students who often face the challenge of playing in higher registers. By practising these techniques, you’ll gain confidence and fluidity in your playing.
Vibrato and Dynamics
Vibrato adds warmth and emotion to your sound, making your performance more engaging. I'll work with you to develop a controlled vibrato technique, ensuring it enhances your musical expression. Additionally, we’ll explore dynamics, which teach you how to play softly or loudly, creating contrast and drama in your music. Understanding these elements will elevate your performances, whether in a solo setting or as part of an orchestra.
Improvisation and Creativity
While we focus on classical music, I also encourage you to explore improvisation during our violin lessons. This technique helps to develop creativity and pushes you to express yourself in your playing. Many students find learning to improvise not only fun but also a way to connect deeper with their instrument and the music they love.
Through our Violin lessons in Berlin, whether you are an adult or a younger student, my hope is to provide a relaxed and enjoyable environment where you can advance your skills and learn various techniques. With many years of teaching experience, I look forward to guiding you on your musical journey and helping you master the beautiful world of string instruments in Berlin!
Whether you're a beginner excited to learn or an advanced musician looking to refine your skills, I invite you to take the next step in your musical journey here at Violin Lessons Berlin. Let’s work together to immerse you in the rich world of classical music and improve your violin skills.
