Welcome to
Hello, my name is Larissa Blackshaw. I am a professional singing teacher offering mobile singing lessons to students in Witney and across Oxfordshire. I teach complete beginners to more advanced vocalists, helping them to develop their vocal strength, tone and confidence.
I welcome complete beginners, as well as more experienced singers, to attend my individually tailored singing lessons focused on helping students learn through singing the music that they are passionate about.
My lessons blend music that a student enjoys with technical exercises selected to help a student to develop their vocal control, tone and confidence.
I am a classically trained opera singer, but teach all styles of singing including contemporary pop and musical theatre. I teach both younger learners, from the ages of 11 upwards, as well as adults.

Over the years I have been able to create courses of lessons ideally suited to helping beginners to develop their singing ability. A key aspect of what has made these lessons so successful has been tailoring the songs and technical exercises to each individual student, so while the core concepts remain the same the overall learning experience is the perfect fit for each student.
For more experienced singers, we will explore how to find your unique vocal tone. Drawing upon your favourite artists and multiple genres, as well as exploring your natural voice.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I teach both young learners and adults how to sing across a wide range of musical genres, including musical theatre, contemporary styles and classical.
I am a classically trained opera singer and singing teacher with a passion for all aspects of musical performance and singing. From 2004 – 2007, I studied music at the University of Bristol, gaining performance experience in the University Opera Society and choral groups.
After graduation, I started teaching the voice and piano at Downe House, a leading independent school in Berkshire, and began my postgraduate diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where I was awarded a distinction for my final recital. From 2011 – 2012, I worked as a peripatetic voice and piano teacher at Hilden Grange Preparatory School in Kent.
I am able to draw on these many years of teaching experience when teaching my private music lessons, combining leading academic research on the voice with real-world performance experiences.
I am able to help my students prepare for auditions, performances and graded exams should they be interested. Many of my students simply learn for their own enjoyment, so there is certainly no complusion to take exams or perform if you would prefer not to.
I teach both male and female singers, as well as younger learners, enabling each student to explore and begin to control their voice. We then move to building strength through carefully select vocal exercises that should reduce tension in the neck and train the vocal muscles to produce consistent notes.
I would be delighted to help you to develop your singing voice, giving you the skills you need to sing with confidence.
As a training opera singer I have learned many of the techniques that help singers to perform on stage at a professional level. These same skills give confidence to earlier stage students, as their voice becomes more consistent and their musicality improves. I would be delighted to share these skills with you, enabling you to progress your singing ability and give you the confidence to sing.
[email protected]My lessons are charged at £15 per half hour and £30 per hour for all students.
I am a mobile singing teacher, so I am able to travel to you to teach you to sing. I have found that students really benefit from learning in a familiar environment, reducing nerves and promoting more home practice.
I welcome students from the ages of 11 years old and upwards to attend my lessons.
You can arrange lessons as often as suits you. I would recommend committing to regular lessons, either weekly or fortnightly for best results.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price.
