Welcome to
Hello, my name is Sam and I am a professional singing teacher based in Handbridge, Chester. I currently work within a music service teaching singing & music all across North Wales. If you are a beginner with no experience or someone who has a degree in singing, I offer lessons which are catered to you specifically.
I have been singing for more than 10 years and teaching for 2. My experience has been through performing solo, with a band and as part of musicals. I studied at the University of West London where I have a BA Popular Music (Vocals).
I have taught over 30 students and helped them achieve their goals, whether that be to audition for theatre, gain confidence with their voice or to take part in karaoke with their friends and family. I have a great passion for singing and helping people unlock that same love for it that I have. I teach all age ranges and believe you are not too young or too old to start anything!

My starting point as a teacher is finding out what do you want to learn / achieve. Once we sit down and establish this I will tailor lessons for that focus be that learning to read music or sing on a stage as part of theatre. I will go through technical exercises, songs and help develop your ability to hear yourself improve.
I will work with you through a song and help you engage your critical thinking and assessing to better help improv your ability. We will dissect the song and really look at how to iron out the crinkles and perfect singing. What I like to offer my students is the chance to record and have something to take away. I have my own recording setup and have experience in recording and editing to offer you your own recording or different songs at no extra cost, we can achieve this within lessons.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginners and advanced players to take my lessons. I will make a lesson plan that works for you.
My story starts off around the age of 7 playing piano until about age 16 where I thought I would give singing a go for my GSCE exam. I soon found that I had a voice to work with. Still being rough around the edges, I pursued this by playing lead roles in my school / university musical performances and concerts.
I was part of the choir Only Boys Aloud for a few years gaining experience of singing with others. Through my degree in university I have had opportunities to sing as part of a gospel choir which lead to performing alongside The Kingdom Choir in Birmingham.
I have studied teaching as a module within my degree and have a vast array of experience teaching from ages 6-75. I continue to broaden my knowledge of teaching through reading, ted talks & performing.
If you are more of an advanced student then there is much to offer. I will really focus on developing your voice and helping you understand how your voice works. I will push you outside of your comfort zone allowing you to develop to be a well rounded musician.
This will in turn allow you learn a wide repertoire for performances you may wish to do or to record yourself singing. I will draw upon my experience as a solo singer, band member and performer to enhance and help you push on to become a more advanced singer/musician.
I will bring you through different styles of singing and how we use our voice to achieve these styles. My extensive knowledge of this comes from my degree and learning first hand how to use and control my voice. I think being able to perform / perfect different styles is a great way to develop your voice and to narrow in on what your voice is capable of.
My approach to lessons is to nurture joy for music and singing. To do this I make the lessons fun and engaging with lessons uniquely tailored to the student’s areas of interest, whether this be Pop, Musical Theatre, Indie, Rock, Disney or Country. My teaching experience ranges from 1 to 1 teaching, classroom-teaching and running workshops with children and so I can adapt the lessons to how each individual learns with my wide range of teaching methods.
[email protected]My lessons are charged at £18.50 per half hour and £35 per hour for all students.
I take lessons from my home teaching space and will travel to you for lessons.
I teach students of all ages how to sing and will make sure we work at a pace that suits your learning level.
Weekly or fortnightly lessons are by far the best way to improve as a learner.
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price.
