I have a vast amount of experience in teaching students of all ages. I currently teach students that are of ages 8 and above.

I have a large amount of performance experience & if this is something you need help with I would be more than willing to push you in the right direction.

Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

My Experience as a Teacher

My name is Diogo Filipe da Luz Fernandes, born in Portugal. I have graduated from Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Castelo Branco (ESART), finishing the course the highest grade. Currently, I am taking on a Master's Degree in Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, under the tuition of Gerard McCrystal.

Since a very young age, music has always had an important place in my life, and at the age of eleven, I entered at the Conservatório Regional de Setúbal, taking saxophone classes and music theory classes. I was also involved in several masterclasses and internships of Orquestra Sinfónica da Metropolitana, Orquestra de Sopros de Setúbal (Portugal), and the Grand Union Orchestra (UK).

Since the beginning of my Bachelor's degree in Portugal, I performed with various ensembles outside the context of the university projects. My work with the Vision Ensemble, a chamber music group composed by a string quartet, a saxophone, and a piano. The performances include a variety of sonorities over a large array of styles and composers from Bach to Verdi to Piazzolla and even Morricone. Our original arrangements make us a unique asset in the Portuguese music scene.

More About My Lessons

I am an extensively qualified teacher who has achieved grade 8 in Saxophone & a Bachelor's Degree in Music Variant Instrument – Saxophone from Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART). I am also currently taking a Master's Degree in Music Performance. I use this to make sure my tuition is always of the highest quality.

As well as teaching in general, I can also offer graded exam work. I will take you through what is required and help you apply when you are ready to take the exam.

I pride myself on making sure that as well as being interesting that my lessons are also enjoyable for all who take them. I really feel that when you enjoy something you will make better progress.

How much do lessons cost?

My lessons are charged at £15 per half hour and £25 per hour for all of my students.

Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price.
