About

About

I am a singing teacher living in Handbridge, Chester who studied BA (Hons) in Popular Music at Nexus Institute of Creative Arts, after earning a Foundation Degree in Primary Education from Northampton University. My passion and experience for both music and educating children are brought together in singing lessons.

To help students develop their voice I draw upon my wide-ranging knowledge of vocal techniques, theory and performance skills. My lessons are grounded in my degree studies which included performing solo, performing in a band, music theory, musicianship and understanding of styles. I also have training in studio recording and love students to have the chance to record their songs to take home.

My approach to lessons is to nurture joy for music and singing. To do this I make the lessons fun and engaging with lessons uniquely tailored to the student’s areas of interest, whether this be Pop, Musical Theatre, Indie, Rock, Disney or Country. My teaching experience ranges from 1 to 1 teaching, classroom-teaching and running workshops with children and so I can adapt the lessons to how each individual learns with my wide range of teaching methods.

Though I have a great passion for seeing children succeed and enjoying music, I do also teach all ages as I believe music and singing is for everyone. Being able to bring someone’s individual voice out and help them find who they are when they sing is the best reward a teacher could ask for!

Music Qualifications & Achievements:

  • BA (Hons) Popular Music (Vocals)
  • A-Level Music
  • Grade 6 Piano

My performance highlights include singing alongside Kingdom Choir in Birmingham Arena, performing as a member of Only Boys Aloud, playing the lead role in Convicted 2018 and 2019, and being a runner up in the University Gospel Choir of the Year Competition 2018.

Sam has been resilient and very patient with my son vocals

My son has been with Sam for a year and I would highly recommend him as he was accommodating enthusiastic and worked in intricate detail to improve my sons vocals and shortcomings.

Within weeks my son got his confidence boost and started singing in public and within his family and friends.

He tactfully helped my son by helping him with his songs and introduced different genres of songs to build up his portfolio.

I would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone at all ages.

Sam helped me to overcome a lifelong fear of singing in public. As a 67year-old it was something I had never really thought I’d ever do but Sam’s patience, warmth and enthusiasm got me over the natural and self-imposed difficulties I had. I now enjoy singing with others and they don’t find it too bad, either.

Worked with Sam for over 18 months. He was a excellent vocal tutor. Sam was understanding and complimentary and most importantly always looking to improve you. Sam is approachable and competent and comes highly recommended.
