About

About

As a member of MTNA, I have been teaching piano to students of all levels and ages for 40+years. My teaching has evolved from private lessons to semi-private, and group piano as well as online classes using technology and cutting edge music software.

I’m very fond of working with young children which has inspired me to write my own curriculum. I’m classically trained however, I have evolved to teaching jazz, improvisation, and composition. My motto is to develop “Functional Musicians.”

Music Qualifications & Achievements:

  • I studied piano performance and pedagogy at Brigham Young University with the late professor Paul Pollei. My love of people and music has inspired my forty years of teaching
  • Currently, I am working on writing my own system of teaching which I’ve been testing the past 8 years in multiple semester group piano classes
  • After attending RMM at Chicago MTNA national convention, I became very interested in the RMM movement of making music lessons a very fun experience for all ages
  • Many of my students have graduated in piano performance, organ performance, piano pedagogy, and music theory from major universities. I’m thrilled to see my students reach their musical goals and to love music enough to make it a career
  • My music school “Barton Music School” one of the private-owned cutting edge schools in the world. We use cutting edge music technology, software, and traditional methods to expedite the learning process

Gina has been excellent thus far and I am excited to continue working with her! She has a very high tech studio to help kids learn, is very organized, and you can tell she puts all her effort into her students.

Gina is an outstanding piano teacher; she is knowledgeable and thorough in her technique. Our daughter started taking lessons when she was 6 and, after only two years, it is marvelous to see how far she has gone and hear how beautiful she can play. Our home is now filled with music that our daughter enjoys playing because of the fun and effective methods that Gina uses. Hands down one of the best teachers I have seen. I highly recommend Barton Music School.
