Welcome to
Hi! My name is Linda Martin and I provide professional piano lessons to students of all ages and skill levels in the Faversham area.
I have been teaching for the piano over 40 years now and still love it just as much today as I did when I first started. I have vast experience teaching and working with students of all different styles and musical backgrounds. No matter whether you have never played before, or you're looking to improve to that next level, my lessons are suited for all.
I teach a few instruments such as piano, flute, recorder and I also provide music theory lessons. I also provide extra lessons for those students who may be interested in taking their musical graded exams. I cover all styles and genres such as Classical, Pop, Blues, Jazz as well as up to grade 5 theory for those who are taking GCSE music or wanting to sit their musical exams.

Having been teaching the piano for such a long period of time, I consider myself to be a very versatile teacher who is comfortable and able to teach students at any level, in any style or genre. I will always tailor my lesson plans to suit your individual music tastes and goals. This ensures that you're always heading in the direction you want to go.
My lessons usually include practical elements, such as learning your favorite songs, working on some technical exercises to improve your playing skills but also some theory elements too. I like to try and develop your music theory understanding which helps you not only become a better piano player but a better all round musician too.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
The lessons I provide are tailored and suitable for any aspiring piano player. Whether you're looking to play a piano for the very first time, or you're looking to fine tune your existing skills and become the best piano player around, all students are welcome.
I have over 40 years teaching experience now, and in this time I have worked with so many students of all ages and all abilities. I actually have ex students of mine who are now full time music tutors themselves and they have told me that I was their inspiriation for wanting to teach music full time, which I find very humbling.
In some cases I have taught two generations of some families, which makes me feel a little old, but also really proud and pleased that they enjoyed my teaching so much, they came back for lessons for their children. I believe my teaching style is relaxed but informative, keeping the lessons fun but also allowing you to progress and develop into a better Piano player.
One of my favourite things about teaching is that no two students are ever the same. I understand that we all want and enjoy different things about music, which makes it a very personal experience. Because of this I have to adapt and change my teaching approach for every student I work with to ensure they are always getting the most from our sessions.
I believe that my lessons are kept comfortable and relaxed but remain informative to a very high standard. As well as providing regular music training I also offer additional Aural training, which is essentially training your ears to be able to identify pitches, intervals, chords and rhythms just by ear.
Over my years of teaching I have worked in many of my local schools and currently, I am now the principle piano and music theory teacher at a large private girls school. I really enjoy teaching these larger group classes. However in my on to one private lessons I am able to dedicate much more time to that specific student.
I have achieved many musical qualifications (CT ABRSM, Cert Music (ed) from Trinity college, Dip ABRSM and over 4 decades of teaching experience) so I feel confident in my ability to provide you with tailored lessons specifically designed to suit your every need. I am also qualified to teach the full syllabus for graded exams.
There aren't a load of music stores in Faversham but here is a list of some local music stores you can try to buy all the things that you may need to get started on piano.
E Street Music, is located 3 East St, Faversham ME13 8AQ and is worth a visit to see what they have in store. They often have a selection of Pianos/keyboard in store and good prices that could be suitable to get you started.
Carstairs Pianos, is located a short drive away at 1a Roper Rd, Canterbury CT2 7EH. This is a great store for all your piano needs. They have a huge selection for you to chose from as well as all the accessories you would need.
