I have a vast amount of experience in teaching beginner students. I will always make sure we learn at a pace that best suits you.
I also have a lot of experience in helping more advanced guitarists get out of a rut or take their playing to the next level.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
Friendly, helpful and focused on helping you to rapidly learn how to play the guitar.
I pride myself on being an approachable and understanding teacher. I feel this is very important to ensure that my students can progress properly. If you ever have any questions always feel free to ask me.
I am an extremely experienced teacher who has been teaching for around two years. on top of this, I have been playing for over 10 years. Qualification wise I achieved a BSc in Music Technology with First Class Honours.
I believe that the best way to learn is via the music that you enjoy. Because of this, I will tailor our lessons together around your musical tastes and goals. From experience, students who enjoy learning always make the best and fastest progress.
I have been a music lover for most of my life and this reflects in my teaching. I enjoy and teach just about any style you can think of from Blues to Funk to Rock and everything in-between.
I teach both Acoustic and Electric. I even play bass as well so this is another option if you want to learn. I will always make sure my students become well-rounded guitarists who can play both acoustic and electric in a wide range of styles.
While I was working as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant and Tutor, I learnt a phenomenal amount about teaching methodologies, learning styles, and communication, and ultimately ended up finding a way to build effective learning relationships with lots of different students in different subjects. These skills are invaluable when teaching young people and adults how to play an instrument, and enjoy themselves along the way!
There is a wide range of great music shops in the local area.
One of my favourites has to be Holmes Music on Faringdon Road, SN1 5AR. This shop is especially great for those wanting to buy a beginner guitar or need some advice on what to buy.
Another go-to place for me would always be Kempster & Son based on Commercial Road, SN1 5PL. This is an independent store which stocks a wide range of guitars and accessories. I would also recommend this shop if you need to buy sheet music.
Lastly and probably the most local typed store would be Brian Taylor Music on High St, SN4 7AB. This again is an independent typed store that stocks a great range of guitars and basses.
I'm completely self-taught in all aspects of music (despite being highly qualified!), and I believe that there is no 'right way' to play an instrument, just the 'best way' for that individual. It's my mission as a teacher to help foster a love of learning and provide enough encouragement and guidance to allow students to find a style that works for them and brings them joy.
[email protected]My lessons are charged at £20 per half hour and £30 per hour.
The majority of my lessons take place from my home teaching space in the SN1 4GN area of Swindon.
I think that music should be for everyone and because of this I offer my lessons to young learners (5+) & adults
You can take lessons whenever you like but for the best results I would recommend weekly lessons.
Wherever possible, I like to organise a month's worth of lessons, secure them all in my diary, and ask students to pay for that whole month in advance. This helps everything run really smoothly, and means that I can plan a string of lessons effectively. If you have to cancel with less than 48 hours notice, then you will still be charged for the lesson. But if you can give me more notice, then I can almost always reschedule, or carry that lesson over to the next month.
I would be delighted to help you to learn to play the guitar. Get in touch to find out more about my guitar lessons in Swindon.
