Hello! I'm Cliff Pinwill, a professional guitar teacher based in Portsmouth. I offer high quality guitar tuition for ages 4 and above.
I am an experienced player who has many years of playing and performing experience. I offer guitar lessons to students of all levels, specialising in helping beginner students to develop the skills needed to play the guitar.
I love to make sure that my lessons are always enjoyable for all of my guitar students. I firmly believe that to learn something properly you should enjoy learning it, so my lessons are focused on helping the student to learn the music that they are passionate about.

I can teach a wide range of genres including Pop, Rock, Folk, Country, Rock n Roll, Blues & many more.
I teach both acoustic guitar and electric guitar, with the student deciding which instrument that they would like to focus on. Whatever your goals are I am sure that my lessons will help you to progress towards them.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginners and advanced players to learn with me. I will make a lesson plan that suits your ability level.

I am a professional guitar teacher based here in Portsmouth. I teach students of all ages and abilities across a wide range of styles, helping ensure that my students develop their guitar playing skills in my friendly lessons.
Having toured extensively with top international artists I know I can inspire you to reach your aims on guitar. I have been playing the guitar for over 40 years now, having spent time gigging, touring and recording at the very highest level for many years. I have written and performed music for computer games, adverts, pit work, live shows and session work. I have even played on the We Will Rock You stage show in the West End.
We can chat about work and opportunities also and I can help tailor and build your repertoire as a solo musician or band musician for cruise ships or any other type of band or gigs. Happy to help with either guitar (Electric and/or Acoustic) and singing or either separately is fine too.

Our lessons together will be built around what you want to learn. I'm able to teach both electric and acoustic and I'm more than happy to learn in any direction you feel comfortable with.

I am an expert in teaching any style of guitar, from beginner to advanced level, and have experience of working with a very wide age group. You are never too young or too old to learn the guitar. Where to buy equipment in Portsmouth
Portsmouth has a great music scene and plenty of great shops to back it up. Here are a few I would recommend.
Guitar Centre, on Highland Road, PO4 9EZ. In my opinion, this would be the best store to go to if you are looking to buy a guitar. They have a huge range of acoustics and electrics to suit every price range.
Street Level, on Albert Road, PO5 2SQ. This is a small shop but an extremely friendly place that again have a great selection of equipment and instruments.

My lessons are charged at £18 per half hour and £30 per hour for all students.
I teach my lessons from a teaching space based in Southsea, Portsmouth. It is a great place to learn to play the guitar with all the equipment that we need for our lessons, as well as good access from across the city.
I have experience in teaching both adults and young learners (4+) and continue to offer lessons to students of all ages.
If you are serious about making progress then weekly lessons combined with home practice is the best way forward.
Please note Guitar Lessons Portsmouth operates 48-hour cancellation policy. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price.
