My Experience as a Teacher

Hey, I'm Tom. I'm a DeMontfort University Music graduate with 10+ years of experience playing, writing, recording, and producing.

I can offer private tuition for Guitar and Music Theory, and can teach any and all styles and techniques at £25 Per Hour. I am currently taking on Intermediate – Advanced Students only. Your current level can be anything above a complete beginner, so don’t worry if you’re not an experienced or fully fledged musician yet. I’d be happy to take you on still.

I have a flexible musical background, having been part of Leicester’s music scene for roughly 15 years. I have lead and performed with a variety of bands, ranging from pop to rock, metal, and electronic and experimental music. I am a seasoned multi-instrumentalist and producer. I can confidently teach how to write, compose and arrange for a range of other instruments including Bass, Ukulele, and MIDI & Hardware Synthesisers. I am also able to offer basic tuition for Audio workstations including Logic Pro, Logic X, Ableton, and Ableton Live.

Whether you want to become a professional musician, or just play your favourite songs for fun, I’ll be more than able to help you reach your goal. I can teach any and all topics. Including Grades, Sight Reading and Improvisation. I’m currently based in the Leicester area and can also offer lessons over Skype and Zoom if you’re currently self-isolating.

More About My Lessons

I have a simple approach to my lessons. That is to make sure my students learn the music they want to learn. I feel as well as learning all the ground works of theory and chord structure, it is very important that my students learn the music that they are interested in. With this approach, we can make very achievable targets to improve your guitar playing faster.

I have plenty of experience teaching beginners and I welcome beginners to take my lessons. I feel that together we can reach your goals no matter how close or far they may seem at the moment.

I will always teach at a pace that suits you as a player. I want my students to always feel comfortable learning to play the guitar and I will make a lesson plan that is built around your needs as a learner and player. For guitarists based in Leicester the closing of Sheehans Music in early 2017 was a surprise. A music store that had served so many of us over the years with equipment, repairs, and advice. The hole left by losing one of the cities leading music stores is noticeable. That said Leicester is lucky still to have several great music stores that guitarists of all abilities can visit.

Keysound, is a must stop for all piano and keyboard players. They stock a great grange of instruments and equipment. You can find them at 117 Narborough Rd, Leicester LE3 0PA.

Intrasound Music, can be found at 70 Narborough Road, Leicester, LE3 0BR and has a huge array of guitar equipment from leading manufacturers such as Orange, PRS, G&L, Cort, Peavey, Electro-Harmonix, Yamaha, Crafter & Tanglewood. The store has some great beginner guitar packages for under £150, ideal for beginner guitarists.

MH Music, based out in Market Harborough, at 7 St. Mary's Road LE16 7DS boasts a great range of guitars - including Fender Squire, G&L, Gibson, Gretsch and ESP models ideal for beginner guitarists upwards. As an intermediate or advanced player you can pick up a fantastic used guitar from MH Music.
