Student No-Shows (All Teachers)
Posted by Matt Pocock on July 5, 2024 at 12:15 pmWhat do you guys do about student no shows? I got to say Ruth has excellent responses to teachers who don’t charge student’s for a no show i.e. 🙂 ‘I think you may be suited to someone who cares less about being paid’ haha!

Right, I’m getting highly annoyed with one student, he was a regular student for a few months, and decided to stop lessons due to health issues. Now he says he is ready to come back for lessons, he has booked and not showed twice now and he was supposed to be here for 12pm!! So this makes it a third time!! Grrrrr!!!!!

That’s what I was thinking!! But then he will not come back will he!!? I’m not sure if I am better off dismissing him to be honest!!!

He owes you money! Send the heavies. Maybe offer him half-price cancellation fee on compassionate grounds?

Who was talking about an online booking system? And does it actually prevent time wasters? And do the students pay card payment over the booking system?
-
The way I’ve phrased it in the past is ‘I think you may be suited to a more flexible singing teacher’ but yes he owes you money x

Lydia, I use an online booking system – the one I use is pretty cumbersome and crap but it still prevents time wasters. Students pay online over BACS transfer before the lesson and it cuts my admin in half.
