Group Lessons For Families (Singing Teachers)
Posted by Guest Teacher on July 4, 2024 at 9:30 amHi everyone! I have a question regarding group lessons for family’s. A student of mine wants her children to join in with her lessons so they all get to enjoy the experience (awesome mum I say!) I was just wondering what everyone would normally charge for a group session/would you make the session longer? Thanks in advance for the advice!😘

For an hour I charge £35 for 2 and £45 for 3 I won’t do more than that

Ahh, so you charge more for more participants:) Do you engage them all in the same practice? Or split the time in two?:)
-
I engage them all. So I’m charging more for the extra demand on me. I usually have to take a break after a group (not that I’ve done a group in a while) so I wan’t to be compensated for that, plus they are effectively getting multiple lessons at a discount. I actually tend to advise people not to have group sessions, as singing is such a personal thing. Whereas if someone wants family sitting in on a session, then great so long as they aren’t disruptive.

No problem. This group is really great for those kind of questions so feel free to ask away.

Agree with Chris, those prices look great and it does get really taxing teaching more than 3. I often get one student to sing, and then the others can watch them for certain techniques, such as watching the belly for breathing or listening for breathiness.
(Glad to have you in the gang, Lily! I’m a singing & voice teacher in Guildford, moving to London in September! Hope the garden city of Leeds is working out for you!)

This is what I do:
1 hour group lessons –
2 people = £50 (£10 discount)
3 people = £75 (£15 discount)
4 people = £100 (£20 discount)
5 people = £125 (£25 discount) -
A bit different with a family as it’s technically the same bank account so I am considering lowering it
