Lessons Tailored To You
My background is diverse. I started violin at the age of 4 and studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School under Berent Korfker (Professor at the Royal College of Music). YMS is world-renowned as an elite institution for classical music education. My second study was piano and our general class subjects included composition, improvisation, music history, music theory, choir, orchestra, and chamber music. Following my time at YMS, I moved country due to family circumstances and switched into academics as a primary focus.

Piano Lessons for Improving Playing Technique
When it comes to teaching piano, I believe in tailoring lessons to each student’s needs while fostering a deep understanding of music. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, there are playing techniques we can explore together to elevate your skills.
Developing Proper Hand Position and Finger Strength
A key foundation of the piano is developing proper hand position and increasing finger strength. This allows you to play comfortably and efficiently while avoiding strain. I guide students of all ages through exercises and techniques that build this essential skill, ensuring it becomes second nature.
Mastering Scales and Arpeggios
Scales and arpeggios are central to the teaching of music and provide the framework for understanding melodies and harmonies. Through our lessons, I focus on helping you play these fluidly and with precision. They are an excellent way to build dexterity and unlock the keys to musical expression.
Learning Dynamics and Expression
Music is about more than playing the notes correctly. It’s about bringing a piece to life. Together, we’ll work on dynamics—soft and loud playing—and learn how to communicate emotion through the piano. Lessons with me emphasise the artistry in connecting with the music.
Exploring Advanced Techniques like Pedaling
For students looking to advance their skills, we’ll explore techniques such as effective pedaling. Using the pedal properly can dramatically impact the depth of your playing and transform the sound of a piece. I break this down step by step, ensuring clarity for all skill levels.
Connecting Technique with Music Theory
I emphasise integrating the music theory into lessons to help students understand the ‘why’ behind the techniques they’re learning. This deeper connection enriches their playing and opens up exciting possibilities in their musical progression.
Teaching of the piano in Helsinki is a rewarding experience because every student brings a unique perspective. I am here to guide you on your way to discovering or enhancing your love for music. If you’re ready to begin our lessons together, I would love to help that musical passion of yours come to life!
