My Mission

Students of all Ages are Welcome

My singing lessons are available to anyone, regardless of your previous singing ability or experience. I work with students of all age groups too which includes students from the age of 3 and up. I feel it's never really too early or too late to start learning how to sing or to learn a new instrument.

I have a vast number of years teaching experience under my belt and I love what I do. As well as teaching how to sing, I also have a vast amount of performing and writing experience alongside a masters degree in music performance and composition. All this experience combined allows me to provide the best singing lessons possible.

I have grown up with all different types of music and I am passionate about all things music in general. I have grown up studying all styles and genres throughout my life and I now feel comfortable and confident in my ability to play and teach in all of these various styles.

Music flows through me and is a huge part of my life. Whether it be jazz, rock, metal, or more, I enjoy, perform, and write in a multitude of genres. I like to call upon these skills when I'm teaching to try and give you all the skills you would need to be able to sing in any style or genre that you want to.

My Experience as a Teacher

I have been ambitious in my writing and performing for the best part of my entire life. In my early years, I primarily studied classical piano in the Royal Conservatory of Music. On the back of my time spent studying here I was also able to enter my own original compositions in to national songwriting contests and actually won second place in Canada Music Week.

I attended and graduated from university in music, which allowed me to fully immerse myself and my life around my passion for music. I obtained my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies (Vancouver Island University) and I then followed this up and then went on to achieve my Master of Fine Arts in Music at the California Institute of the Arts.

My ultimate goal for these lessons as your singing teacher is to help you find and discover your passion for singing and to help you on your way to achieve whatever goals you have set yourself in music. This may be as simple as learning to sing with confidence or it could be to perfect your technique to a performance standard.

More About My Lessons

Singers are very unique in their sound. With guitars and other instruments we can do all kinds of things to replicate a certain sound or to achieve a certain tone. Our voices are much more specific to us as individuals and learning how to make these different sounds and tones using our voices takes time. I will always take the time to get to know my students personally to ensure I identify how they best learn and what they enjoy.

I have always loved all genres of music, whether it be jazz, rock, metal or more through playing, performing and writing. I want you to enjoy your lessons as much as I did when I was learning myself. My main teaching method is by teaching you and helping you to learn how to sing your favorite songs by the artists or styles that you love the most. I feel this is important to help keep you motivated when practising.

A lot of my current students tend to take weekly 60 minute lessons with me and I find that this is usually the best way to ensure consistent and steady progress. I like to try and incorporate a huge selection of all round general music knowledge to not only help you improve as a singer, but as an all round better musician too.

Sam Ash, are a national chain that have a store nearby Palmdale in the Canoga Park area. They have a vast amount of stock at a great range of prices for all instruments and recording purposes. The store can be found at 20934 Roscoe Boulevard, Canoga Park, CA 91304.

Guitar Center Palmdale, is located 1011 W Avenue P, CA 93551 and is a branch of a music chain that specialises in all musical insturments, not just guitars. Here you can also find PA systems, microphones and all other needed accessories.

Cassels Music, is located a short drive away at 901 N. Macley, San Fernando, CA 91340. This store is recognised as one of the top 100 music stores in the world: their store has even featured in the film Wayne's World! They stock everything under the sun including a number of good microphones and recording equipment sets at a range of prices.

No you can attend lessons as and when you like. I would recommend one hour a week for the most consistent progress.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

Any lessons cancelled within 48 hours can still be charged for. I am happy to reschedule cancelled lessons where possible.
