I welcome students of all abilities and all ages. I teach technical skills right along with performance pieces. In addition to classical music, I offer a variety of repertoire to develop my students' musicianship, and encourage them to find their own style.
I offer practice guidance with weekly assignments, and love to play along with my students. I teach music reading, memorization skills, ear training, improvisation and stage presence. I encourage my students to perform for their friends and family and offer opportunities for showcasing their developing skills through recitals and community performances.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome both beginner and advanced students to take my lessons. I will make a lesson plan that works for you and your current skill level.
My story as a musician started when I was just a few years old and loved singing popular Russian repertoire heard on the radio for my family. I started violin lessons with my beloved teacher in St. Petersburg, Russia when I was 6 years old.
During my 11 years as a student, I have played with the school orchestra, and various ensembles – octets, quintets, quartets, trios, duets. I participated in all holiday recitals and ensemble performances. In the United States, I have found Community Symphony Orchestras and over the years performed with several Tango ensembles (Nuance, Open Embrace, La Orchestra Tango Fusion), and Stanford Klezmer Band.
I started to teach in 2005. I have been a consistent contributor of qualified students to the San Jose Youth Symphony and California Youth Symphony.
My lessons are a blend of fun and focus. I teach Alfred and Faber methods of piano instruction. Each method offers materials to every level of proficiency. I teach mainly beginning and intermediate piano, however, I help students of every technical level reach their next level.
In addition to technical skills, I teach music reading, memorization skills, ear training, improvisation and stage presence. In our lessons, we review and discuss Music Theory assignments, following by technical exercises and finally performance pieces.
I love playing along with my students, and offer them opportunities to harmonize with other instruments. The beginners get familiar with the keyboard quickly and start playing familiar melodies, the intermediate students learn how to express themselves confidently.
I'm an experienced teacher who can help you improve your playing or learn the basics on the piano. I will make sure we learn in a direction that you feel comfortable with and that we learn music that you enjoy. My lessons are always easy to follow and enjoyable for all.
