Welcome to
Hi! My name is Elias Eiholzer and I offer mandolin lessons to students of all ages and abilities using online services like Zoom, Skype or FaceTime.
I am a passionate and professional mandolin teacher. I am primarily based in Aberdeen but I have recently started to offer online lessons to all students no matter where in the world you live. Using the power of modern day technology all you would need to get started is a device with a camera on it and an active internet connection. I have found that offering online lessons has been a great way to help musicians grow and develop all over the world and not just in my local area.
The online lessons provided, I believe, offer just as much of a reliable and thorough service as the face to face lessons would do too. I am still able to help and guide you through learning how to play the instrument and will always send you digital copies of the files we are using in the lessons so you can go and practice these in-between the lessons. Taking lessons this way means you never have to leave the comfort of your own home and I find that students tends to learn best this way being in a familiar and comfortable environment.

I have being playing and performing music for around the last 13 years and I still love what I do. I take pride in offering mandolin lessons that are suited to students of all ages and abilities. No matter whether you are looking to play a mandolin for the first time, or if you have been playing for years any student is welcome to take lessons with me.
I believe it's important for a teacher to be as flexible as they can be when offering lessons. I am confident and able to play and teach in a wide range of styles and genres. As such I will always take the time to get to know you and will tailor and adapt our lesson plans to ensure you achieve your specific musical goals and aims. We can take the lessons in whatever direction you like.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
Any student of any ability level is welcome to take lessons with me. I have experience working with both beginner and advanced mandolin players, so anyone can be catered for in my lessons.
I’m a Swiss/American/Scottish musician with 13 years of experience both in the studio and performing on stage. I am a huge fan of all things music, particularly traditional folk and I managed to teach myself how to play the mandolin and bouzouki. I currently perform mandolin in my current folk group called Triskele and we regularly play shows around the UK.
I actually have a degree in social sciences, but playing music is something that has been a lifelong passion for me and I am very excited to be able to pass these skills on to my students. I have been studying and playing the mandolin for a good few years now and I have developed advanced playing skills in bluegrass, classical and celtic folk. With tons of research and hard work I have taught myself everything I know.
I have studied the works of some great mandolin players such as Mike Marshall, Caterina Lichtenberg, and Laura-Beth Salter. I have dedicated many many hours in to improving and perfecting my technique on the mandolin and I feel passionate about sharing the skills I have developed with my students. The mandolin truly is a wonderful instrument and learning how to play it has been a huge joy in my life for many years.
I am largely a self taught musician and as such the lessons I provide do not follow a standardized or strict curriculum as such. I do my best to tailor every lesson I provide to meet the needs of my students as an individual. I understand that we all love and want different things from music so I will always try and adapt my lesson plan and teaching style to ensure you are getting the most from our lessons together. I want you to leave each session feeling excited about what you have just learnt and keen to go and practice it.
I believe I am a friendly and approachable teacher who offers a relaxed learning environment for you to develop and grow your skills as a musician. I am here to provide as much support and help as I can as you progress on your musical journey. Whether you want some advice on how to play a particular song, or you are looking to buy a new mandolin and want a second opinion, I am always here to help you in any way that I can. As well as helping you improve as a performer, I also call upon my years of touring experience to help you grow and develop as an all round musician.
My schedule is very flexible and I am more than happy to work around you and your current schedule as best as I can. You are free to take the lessons as and when you choose but I would recommend a one hour lesson per week to allow for the most consistent progress and development. You can book the lessons as suits you as I feel learning any instrument should be a fun and relaxed experience so I try to keep it this way right from the start. Book and play at your own convenience.
Here is some information to help you get prepared to take your online guitar lessons.
Speed Test, is a very useful tool as having a stable internet connection is one of the most important parts to these lessons. Here you will be able to see what your speeds are and we will only need a speed of 3mbps to have a stable enough connection for the lessons.
As well as a stable internet connection you will need to have access to some kind of electronic device that has a camera on it. This could be things like a laptop, tablet or a smartphone. Many things have cameras on them nowadays so once we have access to one of these you are ready to go.
Once you have a device ready to go, there are many services we can use to connect for the actual lessons. The most common and reliable service tends to be Zoom. If this doesn't work things like Skype or FaceTime for Apple device users are also an option.
My job as an online mandolin teacher is to provide you with all the knowledge and tools that you will need to be able to play your favorite songs all from the comfort of your own home. I am very passionate about what I do and I am here to help you become the mandolin player you've always wanted to be.
[email protected]Lessons are £20 for half an hour, £25 per 3/4 hour or £30 for an hours tuition.
Lessons are provided online using services such as Zoom, FaceTime or Skype. There are others we can try but these tend to work fine for the majority of people.
I teach students of all ages 5+.
No you can attend lessons as and when you like. I would recommend one hour a week for the most consistent progress.
Cancellation fees apply, unless in the case of immediate rescheduling. This means that I expect the lesson fee paid if the cancellation is on the same day, unless it can be rescheduled or postponed to another date in the same week.
Feel free to contact me and book your first zoom mandolin lesson today.
