Teacher Info

When working with children and youth in general, it is important to set and provide an example of exceptional communication skills as I have observed that children tend to mimic the adults and perpetuate the behaviour exhibited by those said adults.

I have 31 years of work experience with children of various ages (5 – 15 years old), and I have worked in different countries throughout my teaching career. The observed copying of behaviour reflects a child’s need for a role model to steer their developing minds onto the path of success, and I believe that my professional experience is able to provide just that, and beyond.

As a trilingual person (fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian), my lived experience in two different countries has taught me how to be more sensitive and compassionate when working with kids; my passion for teaching has evolved alongside with my skill in this career.

I have been a Specialist Music Teacher in Primary Schools in Dorset area as well as an Instrumental Music Teacher (Cello and Piano). I finished a Music college in 1988 and a University in 2005.

I am a flexible, imaginative, sympathetic and enthusiastic person, responding well to the children and their needs as every child should be provided with an educational experience that is personalised.

“Going out on High Note

We have been really lucky to have Ms Hemmings working with us. She has inspired the children with her love of music. She has motivated all the children to sing and the children who took part in The Singing Strategy workshops loved learning the songs from ‘The Greatest Showman’ to perform with other schools. Ms Hemmings will leave an impression on the children and staff she has worked with and will be missed. We have really liked having Ms Hemmings as a music teacher as she is really kind and fun. During her time working at our school, we have done lots of work looking at different composers as well as composing our own music.”

“Ms Hemmings is really nice,

Though we don’t know if she likes rice!

We know that she plays the cello,

And is also very mellow.

She is really really fun,

And also we’ve never seen her glum.

Ms Hemmings is not very old,

And she also likes the colour gold!

We are sad that she has to leave.

And sure that everyone will grieve.”
