Teacher Info
I am a BMus graduate from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I studied classical music, specialising in piano. I teach piano, music theory, composition, sight-reading and improvisation to students of all ages and backgrounds.
I started teaching during my third year at RWCMD, having studied with distinguished tutors such as Michael Young, Richard Ormrod and Huw Warren. I have since taught a diverse range of pupils, from complete beginner to more advanced students.
The objective of lessons is always to help pianists improve their technique, knowledge and musicianship in order for them to achieve their personal goals, whatever that may be. I enjoy working with students who have a passion for learning the piano and I look forward to solving any pianistic issues that they come across. I believe in everyone’s ability to learn and play the piano regardless of their age, experience, or ability.
I use the ABRSM syllabus for my teaching as I find it to be a comprehensive approach to music education. I also use Bartok’s Mikrokosmos for older beginners and Fanny Waterman’s Me and My Piano for children. I aim to give my pupils a holistic education that includes music theory, aural understanding and sight-reading.
