About

Martyn has been performing music and teaching guitar professionally for over 30 years. Originally from West Sussex, he has been based in Glasgow for over 20 years. He regularly performs various styles of music, including singing at weddings, restaurants and private functions, and teaches all levels of ability and all styles of playing, from rock, blues, funk and country to classical, Flamenco and other popular fingerstyles. Many of his students have gone on to pursue a career in music.

Martyn’s Lessons are tailor suited to the individual student’s requirements and unique learning style, and a structured musical understanding is incorporated into each lesson, and songs are often chosen by the student. Excellent skilled and knowledgeable teacher who provides well structured, fun and varied lessons. Lessons are great whether you are covering some of the most complex music theory or simply jamming and having fun. If you are wanting to learn to play the guitar, Martyn should be the first person you go to.

As a current pupil of Martyn’s, I can highly recommend his services whether you are an experienced musician or s complete beginner, and I can honestly say that my guitar playing has come on leaps and bounds since starting lessons with him. Martyn is more than happy to tailor the lessons to what each individual wishes to learn whether this is a specific style or technique. An excellent teacher and human to boot.

Having listened to many world class guitarists over the years the first thing that strikes you is that Martyn is an incredibly capable guitarist, the real deal. And this is matched by Martyn’s ability to teach. Knows the subject inside out and makes it interesting as well

Have been taking beginner acoustic guitar lessons from Martyn for several months. Martyn teaches in a relaxed, friendly environment and has helped me to play various songs. You can learn at your own pace without any pressure at all. Martyn has also helped me improve my technique, and covers the music theory you need to know. He is a very knowledgeable musician teaching both acoustic and electric and as such I would recommend him as a guitar tutor.
