I love seeing steady progression in my students as they master new skills, reach milestones and tackle ever more complex material throughout their musical journeys.
I pride myself in teaching traditional vocal styles with modern approaches, so no matter which genre you wish to develop in, I can plan and present enjoyable lessons tailored specifically to your interests.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I teach students at many stages of life and musical development, from teenagers to adults, from beginners to advanced. One of the greatest joys of progressing as a musician is that there is always plenty to learn and improve upon!
During my time as a teacher studying in the UK, I enjoyed many opportunities teaching voice technique to undergraduates. Teaching advanced classes early on in my career gave me the valuable insight I needed to confidently guide others of all ability levels.
Studying with the support of internationally renowned performers and coaches also provided me with a great wealth of information regarding education. I discovered many exercises, methods and important presentational skills that I now proudly integrate into my own lessons.
My passion for guiding musicians and encouraging expression has since played a vital part in my musical endeavors, both on and off the stage.
In my lessons, I always ensure a relaxed and positive atmosphere where students can feel entirely at ease. Singing is an extremely expressive art form, so it is important that my learners feel completely settled during classes in order to make the most of their learning experience.
Though I keep my lessons fun and enjoyable, productivity and efficiency of time is also a key factor. Progressing on any instrument requires concentration and dedication, so it is my responsibility to conduct classes that keep students challenged and moving forward.
I tailor all aspects of my lessons to my students' needs. In order to keep learners motivated and excited throughout their journey, they must be reaching strategically set goals that are gauged with their own stage of life, development and musical interests in mind. I take great care in accounting for each of my students' individual traits to help get them further, quicker.
Many students ask me where they may source reliable and helpful musical equipment for singers such as microphones, tuners and metronomes. Luckily, there are several great stores located in and around Ashton-under-Lyne to take advantage of.
Though primarily a guitar shop, Gibson Music has a great selection of tools relevant to all types of musician, including singers! Their store is located at 148 Stamford Street Central, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 6AD.
Situated at 30 Portland Street, Manchester, M1 4GS, Dawsons Music & Sound is a well established and trusted music store chain with a brilliant outlet close by, offering a wide variety of musical tools.
Forsyth Music Shop, located at 126 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 2GR, provides local musicians and enthusiasts with many excellent resources, including sheet music and exam essentials.
My extensive experience as a performing singer and teacher is fully channelled into my lesson content. By learning through expert guidance and encouragement, you can achieve incredible results that will continue to develop throughout your learning experience.

Lessons usually take place from my home teaching space in Ashton-under-Lyne. I am also able to offer lessons from the comfort of your own home during either a visit from myself or an online meeting via Skype, Zoom or FaceTime. Online lessons tend to work particularly well for those with busy schedules or awkward hours, but can also be of great convenience to individuals further afield seeking specialist guidance.
I teach all ages from young adults upwards, to senior members of the community. It is never too late to start learning a new skill and it is always a pleasure to teach an array of ages!
You are certainly not required to attend lessons each week, however I do advise students try to keep gaps between meetings at a maximum of two weeks. This is so that your muscles and mind remain challenged and developing, which in turn will allow you to make the most of your lessons.
Life can sometimes throw surprises our way, so cancellations are absolutely fine. However, I must insist that in the interest of keeping my time and your money well spent, you notify me of any changes to our agreed time slot 48 hours or more prior to the lesson.
