About

About

Hi! I’m Norwood (he/him), a passionate and experienced vocal coach, international recording artist, and songwriter. Singing has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and now, my greatest joy is helping others discover and develop their voices.

I’m a BAST-certified vocal coach, trained by some of the best vocal experts in the United States. Over the years, I’ve studied a variety of techniques, including classical vocal training and the Speech Level Singing (SLS) method. Because of this diverse background, I can adapt my teaching to fit each student’s unique needs, whether they’re beginners or experienced performers. I work with all styles and genres, so whether you love pop, rock, musical theater, jazz, R&B, or something else entirely, I can help you find and refine your voice.

Beyond technique, I also focus on vocal health. As a certified Vocal Health First Aider, I know how to spot the early signs of strain or vocal fatigue and can guide you toward proper care and recovery. Your voice is a muscle, and just like any other part of your body, it needs to be trained and cared for properly to stay strong and healthy.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to perform all over the world, from some of the biggest international events like WorldPride Madrid in 2017 and EuroPride Sweden in 2018 to sharing the stage as an opening act for the legendary B.B. King. With decades of live performance experience, I understand what it takes to feel confident and comfortable on stage. Whether you’re struggling with stage fright, looking to connect more deeply with your audience, or just wanting to have more fun while performing, I can help! My goal is to give you the tools and mindset you need to step into the spotlight with confidence and truly shine.

Inclusivity is at the heart of my teaching. I’ve received specialized training to work with transgender and nonbinary students, and I’m committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for everyone. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I know firsthand how powerful music can be when it comes to expressing who you truly are. Growing up, music was my lifeline – it gave me a place to belong when the world didn’t always feel welcoming. Now, I want to offer that same support and encouragement to my students.

My approach to teaching is all about confidence, self-expression, and joy. I truly believe that everyone can sing, and I love helping people break through their fears and doubts. Whether you’re working on your technique, trying to recover your vocal health, or just want to have fun singing, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

My students often describe my teaching style as supportive, encouraging, and fun. Lessons with me aren’t about perfection—they’re about growth, exploration, and discovering what your voice can do. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and excited about singing.

No matter where you are on your vocal journey, I’d love to help you take the next step. Whether you’re preparing for a performance, working through vocal challenges, or simply singing for the joy of it, I’m here to support you. Let’s make music together and unlock the full potential of your voice!

I really enjoyed my voice session with Norwood and I learned a lot! He is very passionate about helping his clients to work on their breathing and I could tell how much he cares about his clients because he was rooting me on and encouraging me with every new exercise. Since our virtual meeting, I have been practicing the exercises and they have given me confidence and helped me to improve my breathing and speaking ability. I highly recommend meeting with Norwood. His enthusiasm for his craft is highly contagious. Even if it is just a 30 minute session, he will provide you with exercises and the confidence to improve your voice to the point where you are more concerned with the words you are speaking rather than worrying about how you sound to other people!

My 10-year-old son Lucky started taking lessons with Norwood a few months ago, and it’s like a star has been born! He has seen a big boost in his confidence, his pitch has gotten much better, and he really enjoys the lessons. He has even started performing! The changes have happened very fast.
