About

About

My name is Raya and I am a pop/soul singer and vocal coach from north London. My versatility and passion for music have led me to perform live alongside artists such as Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Matt Terry, Katherine Jenkins, Tokyo Myers, Martine McCutcheon and more.

I have performed as a lead vocalist for various corporate events and weddings in venues such as The London Eye, London Hilton Park Lane, New Bond Street and 100 Wardour Street. In 2017 I had the honour of performing for Prince Charles at the Prince’s Trust Celebration Dinner at Buckingham Palace which was an incredible highlight in my career.

I have always wanted to use my musical skills and expertise to enable and inspire others. I began teaching as a teenager at the Pauline Quirke Academy for Performing Arts and have since taught at college where I expanded my knowledge and experience.

Having recently completed the BAST (Be A Singing Teacher) course in Contemporary Voice Teaching, my knowledge in voice science and vocal pathology is both current and extensive. There are “set rules” for singing with a healthy vocal technique, however, there is no specific technique for singing contemporary music – there are various different techniques across the numerous genres including jazz, country and rock. Having worked in the music industry with many talented singers and instrumentalists, and being well versed in most genres, I am able to train each singer accurately and cater to my students’ specific needs.

Whether you are looking to sing professionally as a soloist or in a band, or as an amateur in a choir or close harmony group to performance level, whether you are a young person embarking on your musical journey or simply for the joy and pleasure of singing itself…I can provide the vocal “tools”, as well as making it enjoyable and fun!

I found Raya to be an incredibly kind, patient and knowledgeable tutor. I was able to come to her with any problem and she knew exactly what technique to put in place to solve it. I really enjoyed my lessons with her and learnt a lot in a short period of time.

Raya is a close friend of mine, and she gave me a singing lesson earlier this week. She was professional, fun, encouraging and kind as she always is. She was a dream!
