About

What is the point of learning an instrument if it’s not fun? There isn’t one!

Making my lessons fun and engaging is number one on my priority list. Enjoyable lessons result in practice, which results in success!

Since 2010 I’ve taught over 400 students to play the drums, with some going on to study at degree level or teach themselves – I’d love for you to join them!

I currently teach from my student in Saffron Walden three days a week, and go house to house on two days a week. I also offer drum kit hire if you don’t currently have a drum kit to learn on, so you’ll have everything you need to get yourself started!

In my lessons you will:
– Learn to play by reading drum notation
– Learn to play by ear
– Gain an understanding on how to create your own drum beats
– Learn how to play along to any song quickly
– Have the opportunity to take exams
– Learn to play drums with a professional, working musician
– Find your own way of expressing yourself behind the drum kit
– Have tons of fun learning to play an incredible instrument

You’ll even have help from me in between our lessons!

Each week, I’ll upload practice notes and any relevant material for you to have a look at between sessions. Practice is key to seeing progress, and that is something I’ll strive to deliver every single lesson. You’re even welcome to message me outside of your lessons for advice.

I’ve been playing drums for over 22 years, and have been on the music scene for 18 of those years, so I know a thing or two when it comes to getting you playing with other musicians. I’ll show you about drums in an academic sense, but I’m a firm believer that learning any form of art shouldn’t be confined to any one method – everyone is different, and we all learn in different ways. I’ll help you to find your own drumming style, help you to find what method best helps you learn the drums, and help you learn how to continue to improve even after our lessons end.

Please get in touch if you’re interested in getting started on drum lessons, or if you have any questions or queries!
