About

Kait has been teaching singers of all ages and abilities since 1997. She has taught in public schools (K-12), colleges and universities and privately in San Diego & Los Angeles, CA and in Salt Lake City, UT. She now teaching her lessons online to students based around the world.

She has owned and operated The Performer Studio (a non-profit vocal arts school) since 1997 and since then, has coached singers in a large variety of musical genres and performance situations.

As a teacher, Kait’s focus with each student is to help them understand both the anatomy and health of their vocal instrument while helping them tap into their very best sound in an engaging and fun way. Breath support, vocal range, tone, placement and color are all explored

Kait: “Every singer has their own beautiful strengths as well as occasional stumbling blocks. It is my passion to help them identify those, understand them and then move blast through them. Singers are complex people with complex instruments, and no matter what our expertise level, the DESIRE to sing is something to be protected and nurtured.

I value honesty, discipline and detail work in the singing studio. I find those three things, meshed always with a genuine sense of fun and playfulness, are key to helping singers unlock and develop what makes them unique singers and artists with something gorgeous to say.”

Cancelation & Rescheduling Policy

  • What do you do if the student cancels a lesson?

Life happens. I get this. And sometimes students need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. However, my business is dependent on consistent clients, so I require a minimum 24-hour cancellation notice for students to avoid a cancellation fee. More notice is always appreciated so I can open my calendar to other students. Of course, emergencies happen and I’m not unreasonable. Cancellations within 24 hours of a lesson can be addressed on an individual basis.

  • What is your policy for rescheduling a lesson?

It is preferred when you need to reschedule the lesson that we do so for another day during the same week as the originally scheduled lesson. This is done to help you stay on track with your learning and also insures that my income doesn’t all of a sudden drop. As long as we can both find another time that week that works for us both, there is no cancellation fee.

  • What if the teacher cancels a lesson?

Remember that whole “life happens” bit above? Occasionally, I have to cancel or reschedule a lesson. I always try to give my students a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. If I have an emergency or last minute situation that forces me to cancel your lesson, I give you a credit for when we are able to meet next.

Kait is awesome! She really knows music and she has the real experience to back it up. Whether you are aspiring to achieve pro level skills or you just enjoy music for personal enjoyment, you will find something here. You can work privately or in a group. The people in the class are fantastic! There is something about making music together that everyone should experience. Kait and the other students foster a great supporting environment to help you release the music inside you.

Kait works to bring out the possible best in a person. She provides constructive criticism when needed but also makes you feel you are learning and progressing under her instructions. She took a shy, quiet person and turned him into someone who is learning that it can be fun to perform for live audiences and how good it feels to express a talent you always wanted to share with others but were not sure you had it in you to do so. I greatly love and respect this teacher.

Kait is part intuitive, part miracle-worker and all music and voice! She was able to take our daughter – whose older siblings said couldn’t even sing ‘Happy Birthday’ – and work with her to achieve a Broadway-style range and capacity to belt out a song that no one in our family ever expected. Kait’s ear and sense of what’s possible in a voice is uncannily good. She can find the positive attributes in anyone’s voice and build on them. Our daughter is now a confident, uninhibited singer and performer, thanks to Kait!

I have been through so many teachers. Some good and some bad. Kait is the vocal teacher you hope to find on that journey. Not only is she a phenomenal singer, she has a great talent for understanding what you want/goals in a lesson. She knows the voice and I think that is the strongest quality in a vocal teacher. Thank you Kait, you are wonderful to work with.
